Damn, can't find much to take issue with there ;-)

The one thing I disagree on, and I see I'm not alone, is about wasting money on CB's. Under Txiki, I think the only notable one was Mangala and we definitely didn't get value there but there will always be signings that don't work out. We've spent a lot on money on our four main current centre backs but all worth it, I reckon.

I refuse to get carried away but I'll reiterate that Dias really couldn't have impressed more than he has done so far.
We've wasted a lot in defence since the takeover and JimH saved me the typing. Also LB is another position we have wasted big money and remains an unsolved problem. Mendy, jeez I can't be arsed elaborating on how much a flop he has been, mate. : /

I repeat, one disappointing example aside, we've not been wasting money on CB's since Txiki arrived.

Left back is another story and really for another thread but Mendy is a victim of two horrid injuries so judging the actual decision to buy him is difficult.

I don’t think otamendi can be described as a waste of money to any degree. Five years at the club, sold for a decent fee and was at the heart of our defence during the most successful period in our history.
Yes; he was very good at times in the title winning seasons. But when he was poor, he was atrocious. Far too quick to go to ground. For me, Demichelis was a better player.

And actually, although he was a bit raw, there was nothing fundamentally wrong with Nastasic that couldn't have been ironed out, in my opinion. I suspect there was some other problem there, but I've never been able to get to the bottom of it.
Nastasic is going to remain one of the mysteries of the known universe. I've never seen such an excellent debut (against Chelsea?) followed by what looked like absolute terror in every single match after.
