Nastasic is going to remain one of the mysteries of the known universe. I've never seen such an excellent debut (against Chelsea?) followed by what looked like absolute terror in every single match after.
Haha, you are mixing Mangala with Nastasic.

Nastasic was very good for us under Mancini, struggled in Pellegrinis system and were rumours of cocaine-use at one point. I liked him a lot and a part of me still feels like we never should have sold him, however while he has been decent he hasn't really set the world afire since he left either.

Boateng and to a lesser degree Savic is probably the ones that got away in that regard. Both cheap, Boateng was the best centre-back on the planet for a while after he returned to Germany, would have been perfect alongside Komps. Savic looked like a catastrophe waiting to happen everytime he played for us, but his situation was far from ideal being thrown into the deep-end in important matches because of injuries and suspensions in a title-race, and his fathers's suicide right after he joined. Glad to see him do so well for Atletico

Damn and blast, so I am :(

I might be straying into biography-writer levels of self-indulgent guesswork here but when he came on I got the sense that he was absolutely not going to let his club get embarrassed. There was a sense of "not on my watch" about it.

I'm guessing Pep put him on because it was the closest he could get to guaranteeing we wouldn't concede a second.

I think Pep felt we were always going to either score or at least create chances. Seeing how they were chucking it from throw ins we were literally short in the air with both Garcia and TBH who's inexperienced.

Good post regarding Savic,it was just bad timing in many respects.

Cant agree with Nastasic,i didn't think he had the character or backbone.

Boateng has never been the best CB in the world, and we've not missed Nastasic or Savic. All have done ok, Boateng continually found out at the highest levels, Savic in the Simeone system protecting him at every opportunity and Nastasic has found his level.
