Exactly my thoughts, I was extremely high on Kounde and would have been really happy with Koulibaly but I don’t see this. I hope he proves me wrong but he’s not better than John Stones (at his best). @bluesingh .

Its absolutely ridiculous. Its like we rather sign shit for what we only want to spend instead of going extra mile for top class player. @MeatHunterrr

Can’t help but think that this is a panic buy. @racecar

He makes Mangala look like Messi @SleepingBlueTiger

he has the same amount of brain cells as Otamendi @Kokonut1307

A Stones-Otamendi hybrid with heavy emphasis on the bad habits of those two. @Kokonut1307

Basically Stones. Absolute disaster of a signing if true. @sky_blue

Portuguese Otamendi @MeatHunterrr

I’d rather the club kept Otamendi and the £60m. @Homar

But the reality is that at this point he is not even better than JFE. Mangala level signing. I genuinely don’t understand how the fuck we are even linked with him. He’s the Leon Bailey of defenders. Hype for one season, but not actually really good. @sky_blue

and it goes on and on and on, there's a few on the thread who go way overboard, especially @sky_blue and @MeatHunterrr , who i asked if they had actually seen him play a number of times, he wouldn't answer, so i take that as a no.

i know its early in his city career ,but it seems we have made the right choice in dias, so well played city

I haven’t commented on his performances yet because it is early in his career with very mixed performances. Good against Arsenal, Marseille and Sheffield. However he also made a huge mess for Porto to score, caught out multiple times against Leeds and was soft against West Ham. We will find out next weekend whether our defence has truly been transformed. I said it before to give him a chance but I still have my doubts about whether Txiki has made another poor decision. As a reminder Mangala had fluctuating games where he looked world class against Chelsea and then completely lost against Liverpool.

Most players take about 6 months to adapt so in his defence his performances have been well ahead of the expectation curve so far

Have you always been annoying.

Dias Ex Machina
We deserve that bit of luck after others not working out...

He is giving off all the right signals to be top class and someone like that is the difference sometimes in winning (ask vinny) trophies...

Watched him marshalling Laporte like he had him on reins yesterday, which isn’t having a pop, just that not everyone can be leaders!

I was being serious with that nickname — it’s what I have taken to calling him!

I am of course trying to reserve full judgement, as it is still early days, but I have been very impressed with him thus far, not only with his leadership qualities, but with the assuredness he exhibits in solving problems. He generally makes the right decision with each ‘test’ and that consistency then calms those around him, in turn improving their decision making.

They also are more willing to try higher risk, higher reward actions, as they believe Dias and Laporte will clean up any counters resulting from it. I think as the season wears on, that will see us create better chances and score more goals, especially against parked buses (which are the vast majority of the matches we play now).

I expect these trends will continue.
