Genuinely never seen a defender come in and have this much of an instant impact. It dwarfs the impact VVD had at Liverpool. The closest I can think is Carvalho's debut season at Chelsea (however Cech and Ferreira also came in that summer so the impact was shared).

Just messaged a Dipper that Dias is better than VVD , his reply was not complimentary , but i stated he is at the moment because he has two legs and will not be a washed up 30 year old in the summer , so easy to wind up a Dipper

He’s not that fast but somehow we seem to be playing a lot higher up the pitch and aren’t as vulnerable to balls in behind as we were. He drops off at the absolute right moment. In turn our midfield are playing a lot closer to our front three. He has totally transformed us.

Van Dijk is obviously incredible, but it's not ridiculous at all to compare the two. Certainly Dias' first 24 performances for City are several leagues above Van Dijk's most recent 24 for Liverpool. And Dias has at least a decade ahead of him, too. Unbelievable signing and the best defender in the world this season.

Just missing a goal now. I have a strange feeling that his first for us will come at a really crucial time- either the upcoming PL game vs United or a game later on in one of the cups.

We’re only just getting back to our attacking rhythm (and need a striker, definitely) but so many players have improved significantly since we’ve signed him.

Stones has been World Class, Gundogan is in the form of his life, Cancelo looks a new player and you would be happy seeing him at RB, RWB, LB, CM, CDM, CAM. Zinchenko looks solid. Ederson’s dying of boredom. Rodri’s starting to perform. Fernandinho looks young again.

What a player.

I remembered watching his interview when he first joined, haven't watched his games for Benfica, hasn't played a game for us yet. Yet there was this 'aura' from his interview, the professionalism and the way he carried himself, something Kompany-esque, that made me thought, "We got this one very right."

Dias doesn't even make honorable mention.

Maybe i have got this wrong, but he isnt mentioned as he isnt english or 11ish.

BTW our new Vinny, I think our future will be longterm Ruben and Aymeric. I remember Dave Watson and Mike Doyle, solid and dependable.
