30th April 1994 - The Kippax's Last Stand

Tiny Shite thing? Really not what I recall
It was around 11000 off the top of my head. They built 3 tiers when they could of made it a lot bigger and probably cheaper with one or two tiers. I thought it was unnecessary. And you could see that fuckin shit hole from the top tier. I fuckin hated it tbh.

Ok so i had a look on the computer and i can't find the scans i did of my pics from that day, i scanned them in about 15 years ago.

All i could find were two cropped pics of us from the day that i'd included on a big montage of our city pics i made for my mum about 10 years ago.

No idea where the brilliant big montage is either - just found these two already cropped to this. Of the pics on the 2nd attachment only the bottom on is from 30 April 94.

I never post my face online, very private usually - so you're honoured ;)

re reading this thread now we're in 30 years not 29, and there I am posting a year ago today!
Oh for it to be a year ago never mind 30 years. Remember that day like clockwork, and still got the last stand t shirts.

Never post my face here, but you know what if I find the picture I'm talking about I'll post it later today. To raise a glass to the past, to memories, and the people we stood with that made the kippax our home.
I was there... i cried. And if you'dve told me that only 9 years later we'd say bye to all of Maine Road i'd never have believed you.

Cracking picture of me and my mum and sister stood on the kippax corner as leaving - my sister with a scowl, me with a resigned half smile, and mum with Brian May perm.

We always stood first barrier - where new Kippax BBL and East stand 102 is now.

Whether it was Maine Road, the Etihad or any other all-seat ground... They sucked the life out of the game for the traditional supporter.

I've never felt any personal attachment to the Etihad in 20 years. It's a superficial concrete block.
That's an age thing, you get attached when you are youg and starry eyed. kids of today will feel about the Etihad as we did for Maine Road!
