His positioning for the 1-v-1 finish was shocking. Couldn’t have left an easier finish.
Given he is instructed to play on the edge of his box when the ball is in the other half where should he have been? He has two options when balls like that are played through, he either comes all out to clear it which was not an option in this case as the ball was spot on or he does what he did which was to back track as much as he could make sure he doesnt get lobbed and get himself into the best possible position given his starting position. His positioning is not crap, he is doing as instructed. He wouldn't be in these same positions if he started on his line like other keepers. This happened with Valdes and Neuer at Barca and Bayern too and with any other keeper that's asked to play a sweeper role. Its simply a consequence of our game and with how we are able to push so high because of it and the amount of balls he sweeps up, the benefits severely outweigh the minor negatives that may occur. There's not a single keeper in the world more suited to Peps football than Ederson.

I’m a big Ederson fan but I’ll be honest, I don’t think he’s that great one vs one. He’s very good at beating an attacker to the ball at times but if the forward wins it first then I’m not always that confident he’ll make the save. I wouldn’t swap him for anyone though as his overall contribution to our game is fantastic.

In the last one and a half games, 3 shots 3 goals, getting to Bravo levels of save to shot ratio.

Thats what happens when you face 1 shot a game, Bravo suffers the same fate as Ederson. We concede basically 1 or 2 chances a game, knowing our luck it is something there is nothing he can do about.

His football is brilliant, his goalkeeping could be better.
Overall he is fantastic, but I feel his shortfalls get overlooked because he's a mean passer of a ball.

I feel his shortfalls are largely made up because he's asked to play with a handicap to the benefit the side
Yeah his goalkeeping stats overall rank amongst the best in England. He's upped his game in the last year or two.

There's still work to do but he knows what he's doing.

He has all the physical attributes to be the best, but his colocation and 1vs1 are not good. A top 5 goalkeeper (Navas, Neuer, Cortouis, Ter Stegen...) would have, at least, stopped one of the two goals by Dortmund.
