Because the goal was absolutely on him. He made one decent save on that long range effort. He has (once again) made an error in the knock out stage for us.
One decent save? so what about when he cut out the cross at the front post for a tap in at the back? What about when he came out to deny silva after he danced past akanji? Two goal-preventing pieces of goalkeeping right there.

What error did he make?

I thought their goal was pretty much down to the incredible ball that was played in. It was absolutely top class. I don’t really think you can lay the blame at anyones door

Good goals are allowed to be scored against us, without having to blame anyone

Could Ederson have made a different decision? Yes. Would it have changed the outcome? Highly unlikely

Could Ake & Dias have made slightly different my movements? Yes. Would it face changed the outcome? Highly unlikely

Could Gundo or anyone else have got out to the corner much much quicker? Yes. Would it have made a difference? Maybe if it had been picked up quick enough

Why did they score? Because the cross was amazing & the early leap by their player did our defence

Well played them, without there being any blame on any of our players

With all respect but golden gloves is about clean sheet only. They don't take any other factors into consideration. The way City played will help any keeper to get more clean sheet. Take Joe Hart as an example, he got it 4 times.
Joe Hart was the best keeper in the country if not the world for a couple of seasons , because Pep came in and wanted a ball playing keeper , it should not taint how brilliant Joe was at his peak.

I'll repeat, I tthink this was Ederson's best game of the season and he made some good saves, but I am kinda scared with some Ederson fans. Already 2-3 posts with people saying he didn't make any mistake on their goal.

If you go for a cross and you are not even close to claim it, that is a big mistake no matter how you put it.

he was pretty solid. there's only so much one can do as a gk, but i'm not saying that there werent times where his decision making left a bit to be desired.

You’re correct. He definitely didn’t cover himself in glory for their goal. I don’t think he’s ever reaching it if he comes out and reads it correctly (punch at best), but on the other hand, does he stop a header like that from such close range? Not convinced he’s got much chance of effecting the result, but the optics are bad, watching him flap about in no man’s land.

Still rate the guy very highly.

Made two good saves that you’d expect a keeper in the CL knockout stages to make and then misjudged the cross for their goal which you wouldn’t expect a keeper at this level to do.

His distribution isn’t what it was last season either. I hope we’re looking at alternatives.

If he was at his peak, then why he failed when he left City. The reality is he benefited from City playing style but when he moved to other clubs his weakness were exposed and thus he failed.
