They still appear, he was getting pure abuse in the Sheffield matchday forum on here last week, fucking weirdos.
I think with some of them it’s rooted in crushing insecurity. When people don’t ‘get’ things that are obvious to others, the path of least resistance for them is to try and undermine the subject matter.

Whatever any of us on here think, the reality is that Pep Guardiola, possibly the greatest club manager in the history of football, has pretty much exclusively considered Ederson to be his number one choice in the entire human species to perform a particular role over the course of six seasons, now entering a seventh; during which time this club has an unparalleled title winning record, including five PL titles in those six seasons. And this guy has been as central and vital to that incredible record as any other player. And has played more games it that time than any other player. And is pivotal to how we play as a team. These three statements are all undeniably true.

Yet some posters can’t step back and think rationally about all that, and maybe accept that on this occasion their judgement must be wrong (because what other logical conclusion could they possibly arrive at?) because they’d rather come on here and bore every other **** about the fact that he “doesn’t make saves” because it makes them feel perceptive students of the game. Because they plainly think they know more than Pep.

Thankfully for all of us, they don’t.

In the world cup qualifiers for Brazil, this break: 1-1 draw v Peru, 1 save and 2 - 0 loss to Uruguay, 0 saves. Hopefully he's not too tired after the long journey.

Like plenty of others, he started the CL final shakily.

But his performance in the second half was excellent. There was the miscommunication with Akanji but rather than panic, he dealt with that situation and made an excellent save.

Then there was the point blank save from Lukaku, the composure to come and command the box and win the long punt from a free kick late on which he dealt with brilliantly in a crowd of players. And then the save from the header at the end of the game.

He won us that game.

He's improved considerably over the past few years. He's grown from someone who was excellent on the ball but possibly a bit too keen to get involved in the game. Now he's composed, switched on and there when we need him. He's made some excellent saves already this season. I also think his passing ability remains underrated. There are a lot of teams trying to play that way now, and a lot of keepers playing in a similar way. But not one of them has the composure he does on the ball, to draw players onto him to create space for others.

Joe Cole claiming he was too far out for their goal. This is the exact stupid argument many others have made about him over the years whenever we concede a goal like that.

When are people going to realise his starting position is dictated by our style. pep demands he has a high line and is ready to sweep and so when balls like that for the goal are played through and he cant sweep, he's automatically in a disadvantageous position and can't do what you'd expect from a traditional keeper who starts from his 6 yard box.

The exact same thing that Ortega did vs Mitoma at the weekend and won the game of bluff.

All keepers can do in that position is make the forward’s job to score harder.

Lost me at "Joe Cole" to be honest.
