He didn’t though.
The best goalkeepers in the world at 1v1s don’t charge out like Eddie does, they give themselves more time and force the striker to beat them rather than take themselves out of the game.
Same applies here. Give yourself time to make a decision, give defenders time to catch up, make an infamously indecisive player like Nunez make a tough decision.
And the thing is, even if he gets the ball, he’s flying into these challenges with so much force and taking man and ball so often that they’re debatably fouls anyway, if Dias made the tackle Ederson did on Garnacho last week, it’s a yellow and foul.
Otrega is a far better keeper . A bad pass back but Nunes was going nowhere ,Ederson could have spread low and blocked him . He was lucky not to get a red. Every week there is a rash decision looming. Him and Walker have a combined IQ of a Newt with learning difficulties.
He is one of the top two goalkeepers in the world.
I would agree with youbut he is not intelligent enough to warrant that.Ortega is not a better keeper. He's very decent but not better.
Ederson is world class.
Not even his mum thinks that.
No. You think that and don't like him.
I'll go with Pep on this.
It doesn’t change the facts to which you responded when it completely changes a massive game!He is one of the top two goalkeepers in the world.
Why -Ortega is more reliable.Hope he’s not too badly injured. We’ll need him against Arsenal.
I love him, have done since we were first linked in pep’s first summer and he’d just taken over the 1 shirt at benfica.
But despite loving him, I can see he’s not performing at his best, and he’s still making the same mistakes he made when he arrived at 23.
Pep loves him; he'll definitely play against Arsenal, fitness permitting. Is Ortega significantly worse than him at actual goalkeeping? I don't think so. But Ederson's superiority at distribution is what clinches his spot in the first team, I'm guessing. It's crucial to the way Pep wants to play. It's the reason why Joe Hart was bombed out. If you're happy with his (at times) brilliant distribution, then you have to put up with his occasional brainfart moment. And re penalties; it's just easier to accept that he won't save them.Ederson is a fantastic keeper for us. He ain’t going to save a penalty but there you go.
He probably wasn’t going to play against Newcastle but we need him back for the Arsenal game.
I think you are incapable of objective thought on the subject, and quite possibly I am too, but one Josep Guardiola seems to agree with me, which is good enough for me.Why -Ortega is more reliable.
No doubt you are correct but this would be a very quiet place if we weren't entitled to chirp up.I think you are incapable of objective thought on the subject, and quite possibly I am too, but one Josep Guardiola seems to agree with me, which is good enough for me.
That’s completely fair comment mate.No doubt you are correct but this would be a very quiet place if we weren't entitled to chirp up.
I think he made a mistake, especially as it was Nunez, so it was just as likely he would fuck up the chance if Eddie had just run out with his wings spread.
But Ake is ultimately responsible for the entire situation, so Eddie gets a pass from me.
