I fundamentally disagree with the notion that he was crucial to what we've won.

Guardiola's impeccable coaching means there is always one easy option for a pass from the keeper.

He's cost us as much as he's given us. He repeatedly makes stupid mistakes and decisions and he is an average shot stopper. You can't get away with that at this level.

Using this logic we might as well have kept Hart, or how about Willy?

VJ hung around close enough to make Ederson not drop the ball.

He then miskicked it and the shit show unfurled. He could have caught the shot that was right at him too.

Made a few really good saves. And not even particularly arsed about the shot coming back off him for the second. But that drop kick was fucking dreadful, at a moment when we just needed a bit of composure from the experienced players to see the game out. Inexplicable. Your point about Hart is interesting because he was poor for us for less time than Ederson now has been.

Anyway, I wasn't saying someone as bad as Hart with his feet would've done for us, I was saying that someone competent would be fine in our team.

Look at Neuer, he wasn't anywhere near as good as Ederson with his feet but was much better overall and the system still worked.

He has always had a tendency to get caught in no man’s land and commit to coming out when he has no chance. He dropped their player in the first half too and got nowhere near the ball but fortunately they were offside. That would have been a nailed on penalty.

Yeah, a lot of players have been way off it this season and I think swapping him and Ortega week in week out has done neither of them any favours.

He was man of the match until the poor pass. This fanbase is spoilt and embarrassing, they may as well be rags




It’s his style of playing over the years that has been the difference for us in winning leagues, cups and trebles.
Maybe look at the positioning of his team mates that forced him into a bad pass. Maybe look at the coaches who have coached him to take risks to play out from the back rather than hoof it straight back to the opposition.

All he had to do was waste a bit of time. Then he could have kicked it long. Into either corner. Midfield was crowded. At least we would have had 10 men behind the ball. Then Real have to create something which isn't as easy as feeding off a mistake which we keep on on doing in the last minutes of important games.
