Get rid. Why is he smiling while being subbed on with a few minutes to spare? A lost puppy who feels over-awed being at city.
Bloody hell. Because time was running out and Pep told him to sit back down. Akanji got fouled so there was then time for him to come on and someone made a joke about it. Players not allowed to smile anymore?

Any truth in the fact Pep gets £50k every time Phillips gets on the pitch , cant see any other reason for bringing him on in the 90th minutes :)
To ensure that Rodri doesn't get injured in the last few minutes by over stretching for a ball, being fouled etc and to give him a few minutes playing time. He will never learn a system if he never plays any minutes and whilst I don't think he will be good enough for us we will never know if he never has the chance. We are blessed to have Rodri but never did I think in his first season he would be the player he is now.

lots of things to dislike Philips for but him smiling? Not sure that’s fair
Please expand on this. I never understood this 'dislike' thing, but I might be the old school, I just don't understand people who are emotionally triggered at anything!
What I know about Philips is that he was for Bielsa what Rodri has been for Pep, he was single-handedly mastering Leeds MF and he was just unlucky having been overworked in those two seasons that lead to multiple injuries.

You got me, I don’t really hate him I just wanted to meme

I dont think he'll ever prove good enough, but I hope I'm wrong. People getting on his back for him smiling... jesus. People would probably on his back if he looked miserable when he was about to come on. Maybe we need to come up with a list of permitted facial expressions for players in specific situations....

Tbh I'd normally see bringing on anyone that late as a waste of time (and it was), so I was actually pretty glad to see him happy to get on the pitch, even if just for minutes. We don't entirely know his situation, but if he's accepting it and willing to help his teammates then I'm glad he can be happy while doing that.
