The shoulder injury seemed to be fairly substantial. It would be hard to interject yourself into the regular starters after being out for so long with our team. Ake looked a little shaky when he first arrived and now he's gold. Let's give pep some time to coach him up. If he's willing to listen to what the man says, Kalvin will probably turn out well. A potential issue for him is that he is already 27. Time is ticking away.

Kalvin haters in the mud!

Good, I remember there was a time we had doubts regarding Stonesy, a few others. I hope Kalvin can really step it up a notch or two or a 100 because he is nowhere near where he needs to be. He needs to show some drive and desire, and Pep will know best whether he can make it or do we get rid of him.

Not a fan of Phillips, but the smile thing is interesting. Reminds me of the last time I watched a Goldbridge video several seasons ago when he went on and on about Jones' pink boots. I thought that was beyond the bounds of being funny and clever.

He hasn’t been good enough but I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. I really hope he does a Jack Grealish in his second season, but I can’t see it as you need to hit the ground running in that position.
I don’t feel sorry for a person earning 100k a week. Had he been good enough he would have started or introduced earlier in the game. Pep doesn’t trust him to do that and I think he will be gone in the summer

I found the recent Nasri quotes quite telling - that Pep will not pick you if you are more than 2kg away from your expected weight. It shows that Pep has very stringent views on everything particularly sports science, which drives players to be the best version of themselves. If they don't agree they are gone, not a bad thing in my opinion. Add the emphasis on being a good team mate even when not in the side - see how Cancelo was bombed out - I think it's all up to Kalvin if he wants to be a success with us or not.

I would advise him to take note of how Jack for instance has conducted himself - yes he has fun on his days off but you would be hard pressed to find a player who works harder at fitness and being in his best shape every game. I also think that those who moan because he is seemingly happy just don't get the mood that Pep demands of all his squad. He has talent but if he comes back in pre-season slightly overweight or not in the best condition he will be gone. I for one hope he takes heed of what has happened this season and comes back to show his true potential.

Pep hasn’t trusted a lot of players in their first season, and it’s particularly hard for this position since mistakes lead to goals. We will see in the summer.

Hopefully he'll come good next season and be able to give Rodri a rest for 4 or 5 games a season.
He'll never be more than that though
