Yikes! Give him a chance. Think he is ok. The only reason I'd be okay selling him is if Lavia is recalled. Thought we should have kept him all along.
I agree mate. Perhaps the management didnt expect Phillips to be so ineffective, or Lavia to have such a stellar season at Southampton, but it sure looks a daft decision now.

Okay so this transfer didn't pan out like we hoped but others haven't as well like Kayky, Eric Garcia, Mangala, Bony and others for a multitude of a reasons.

The first part to fixing a mistake and remedying the situation is to realize a mistake was made in the first place!

There has been quite a bit of hatred directed towards him and truthfully I think its strange.

It's been a disappointing transfer so far and I'm sure hed be the first to admit that. Bur attacking him for smiling is just weird.

As long as he's wearing a blue shirt I'm behind him. And this weekend might be his best chance
I’m not sure pitching him in against his old club is the best idea. I don’t get the hate towards him, will judge better next season

Lavia has suitors at United Chelsea Arsenal.
Southampton will gi down so he will move, I don't know what happens with BB clause which isn't active this summer. Of wr are stuck with this guy of he doesn't turn it around and then Lavia rocks up somewhere else, it would be a bad look

what got me last night only on for few minutes but ortega had the ball looking for pass phillips was hidding behind the striker instead of moving into space
This is what alarms me the most. It is normal to see new players taking time to fit into a team. But Phillips seems to have a lack of awareness of what is happening around him. He seems to have no idea what positions to to run into to receive the ball. This basic element is usually instinctive for professional footballers, even those with poor technical skills in the lower league.

At present he has no idea how to move into space which is hugely concerning.

In a Leeds side he probably had to be more reactive but when required to think about where he should be moving to it's just not there. He's a statue at times, often watching the game and forgetting his part in it.

I said last month I'm the guy who has slated Gundogan(as a 6 mind you), Rodri and Ake in the past and the one thing those 3 have shown is some players absolutely need a run of games to find their footing in this side. Phillips won't get a chance now but next season he'll have to go again.
Gundo, Rodri, and Ake needed time to get up to speed and fitness but they all looked comfortable on the ball and understood the patterns of play. There is no comparison between their early performances and what we have seen from Phillips so far. They all knew where they should move to receive the ball. Rodri's only problem was adjusting to the pace of the PL which he did very quickly.

Some people can't seperate the person from their performance as a player.
