Think we'd see the best of Phillips alongside Rodri.

I don't see him as a sole DM, think he excels in a double pivot and as the one who is allowed to venture forward more.
City already play with a double pivot of sorts.

Phillips always had Lewis or Gomez next to him.

Id like to see him tested against the high pressing Brighton team, he needs to develop more urgency.

Agree, but I think the more traditional pivot suits him better, and playing alongside the master that is Rodri would see the best of him.

I wonder whether he could be shaped into playing that RB/DM role for us.

Ive always thought Philips might be able to play there, doesnt seem Pep thinks so.

Yesterday seemed like the first time Kalvin really understood what to do and where to be tactically and he was arguably MOTM for it (admittedly no one was great).

Think he's shown enough to get the benefit of another season, I'd actually like to see him more in the 8 role seemed to play his best football for England with Rice behind him.

Definitely not so bad we need to take a loss on him this summer, one more year and he might prove to be a really important player.

I thought he played well yesterday.
Some of his passes were great and he was unlucky not to score.
He needs to think a bit quicker to get in the right position but for his first game in a while i thought he did alright.

What Walker said in the interview after the game was class and Phillips needs to take confidence from that and be ready to step up and help us next season.

He sees a pass. I think the issue is he gets caught napping - often. That's probably lack of real game time, but it's very obvious when he plays - we're spoilt with rodri (and fern before him etc..) really.

Listened to an interview he did with talksport on the way home and he says that he is still trying to take it all in. Pep’s coaching is so in-depth that he struggled to adapt, throw in the injuries and we have what looks like a non runner. Also said that when he arrived at training he didn’t feel like he belonged. Hopes to stay at city for 5 seasons. So unless pep has been talking crap to him I can’t see him moving this summer. Where that leaves us with recruiting for midfield is anyones guess.

I like the lad. He comes across as a well rounded individual. Always applauding and joining in the celebrations. Whether it be with fans or team mates.
If he is wanted and stays it'll be because Pep backs him and he backs himself.
Whichever way it goes I hope he has a great career.
