Slotted in well enough. Was never goingnto be a game for him to standout, all he can do in these games is keep it simple and not fuck up. He managed that.

The overreaction to his lack of involvement this season is so strange to see its like people continually forget that he's been injured for most of the season and almost every player requires 12 months to show any signs of fitting in.

He's in arguably the most important role and the one where he needs to know exactly where to be at all times. It's not a position you can just throw in a guy that isn't fully prepared and hope they can wing it. He missed the period of the season where pep will have him learning in training and slowing tweaking it on the pitch. Once he come back post world cup and every game was a must win he was never going to feature, his chance for this season had gone and now it's about picking up as much as possible and making sure he's fit and ready to go pre-season so he can have that chance to learn the role.

Rodri took over 2 years for the penny to drop for him and he remained fit pretty much throughput, phillips has had an injury plagued season. Like all of the new lads this year, we can expect improvements next season.

city haven't been someone off after 1 year against their will in the Pep era I think (Nolito and torres both wanted out) so I find it hard to believe he will be canned this summer, but it is a problem that pep won't even play him in cup games and we can't do to rodri what we did to him this year again. A goner in summer 2024 unless a minor miracle happens for me.

I thought he was ok. Showed promise, particularly with the recoveries and a couple of long passes (which are the two things he's best known for).

Reckon he could do with taking a page out of Stones's book from summer 2020 and giving his all in pre-season.

I really think Kalvin will come good with Pep's coaching and motivation. He's done well for England. We have to give him time to fit in.

I think he did well, is it just me though or it he completely incapable of sprinting? might be fitness or lack of urgency but he ambled back a few times when Chelsea were countering. He did recover a bit more rapidly when he lost the ball however.

Watching his interview on NBC … he seems a lovely lad but incredibly low on confidence and even questioning his own ability. He says in training (at the start) he’s thinking ‘what am I doing here!?’ And at one point even says he’s ‘not ready’…

Self deprecating humour maybe, but more than the ring of truth to his words.

Thought he did well today. Unlucky not to score!

Hope kicks on if he stays!

Think we'd see the best of Phillips alongside Rodri.

I don't see him as a sole DM, think he excels in a double pivot and as the one who is allowed to venture forward more.
