44 Years Ago… Johnny Bond, Johnny Bond, Johnny Bond

I was 10 when Bond arrived.I enjoyed his time at City. Was a bit young to fully understand he was a slimey git but the cup run and hearbreak at Wembley and then we fell to pieces the season after. Still have fond memories of him.I think we was top of the league at crimbo as I was at my nans house and was buzzing.

When he ended up at Burnley had had a City old boys club….
Tommy Hutch
Steve Daley
Gerry Gow
Kevin Reeves
Willie Donachie
Denis Tueart?

Remember going to Palace away and Gow scored in December (maybe 1980) very early on in a 3-2 win stood on the terracing behind the goal, must have been Bond as manager, being excited at the new era..

Yeah it was definitely skewed in & put Big Joe Corrigan off balance.
Yeah I was at that end, right above the old players' tunnel. It was a routine save if it wasn't for the deflection. Never thought it'd be another 40 years before we won a proper trophy (I don't count the play off as it was scandalous we were down that low in the first place).
