Its clear to everyone that this kid is special, I no longer worry about him not starting games because everytime I see him he looks more comfortable in his role.

He is rapidly approaching the stage where he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Give him 18 months and he will be one of the finest players in the league assuming he keeps his head screwed on.

Despite starting brightly in that 1st half, I got a little frustrated with some of decisions in the final third but he was a different player in the 2nd half. Pep must've really lit a fire under them and the difference was palpable

Phil has a really bright future, just needs to follow along this path and take the step up to world class - he has the tools to do it. Even without a goal, there was a lot to like about how he played considering the circumstances

Now imagine last night but with a full stadium. Great match
Wait, are you actually a city fan? I thought you were just a wum

As everyone, got a lot of love for Foden. I actually think matty cash is a decent RB and he just tore him to pieces last night. Surprised he didn't take more shots from that side tbh, felt he tried to look to cross it in times where I reckon he could of got a shot off, maybe should of put his foot through the ball for his chance in the first half too.

Either way the kid is a joke, nailed on in the starting 11 for me atm, gives us that burst of pace and willingness to take people on that we lost with sane leaving. 100% a england starter too, no doubts about it.

Just to chime in about that LW performance.

Many people have compared that game as reminding them of Sane, and I definitely see that.

But I also like that he's basically a Sane-David hybrid, with the pros and cons of that:

1) He's not as electric fast as Sane (not many are), but he is fairly quick and has better ball control (closer to David) than sane and his weak foot is better too imo. His crossing is very similar to Sane's.

2) He's not quite as good at operating between spaces like David (not many are), but he is better at scoring than David (closer to Sane) and he is quicker than David as well.

I still think his best position is as the #10 as his qualities fit there perfectly, and he has shown in England how dynamic and useful he can be there, but for now, learning and playing the LW is definitely useful minutes, David and Kevin also started out as wingers, then they transitioned into the midfield, I expect the same for Phil.

The big improvement I've seen in the past few games is his strength to retain possession and also going to ground to buy a free kick if he's nowhere else to go. If he continues to improve those aspects of his game, as he has, then my word he's going to be special.

That little run into the box, using both feet to skip past the two defenders... sensational. He can use both feet, beat the man, score goals or find a team mate and his technique is something special. He just keeps getting better and if he keeps his current trajectory of improvement then next season he'll start being mentioned as one of the best in the world.
Yeah.that talent (that little run into the box, using both feet to skip past two people)was evident to me 4 years ago.thats what he showed us on his debut v utd in front of 80k spectators. Those of us who stayed up that night to watch the genius start his City career saw him effortlessly ghost past pogba..and other seasoned Red international players....as if they were not there. They could not touch him.he was dynamite.
You say " he is going to be special"
Really?
The horse has bolted pal.He is already special.he was 3 years ago when England went to the world cup with utds version of Pinocchio as there midfield schemer/playmaker...and relied upon an injured spurs prima dona.....Foden .at 17.was the best ,ball playing english midfield player in the country.without a shadow of a doubt. He should have been on that plane.
As a youngster myself,i remember watching in awe ,as when Maradona came to wembley with Argentina,in a friendly ,at 18 years of age.quite a bit of hype before the game ,but i still remember the dazzling run through the england defence which left veteran England international defenders flat footed,.....and drew the Keeper, before he shot sailed just wide of the far post.bamboozled the entire england defence.no one could get near him
Thats my only memory of the match, because it was pure footballing genius...looking back you have to remember this was an 18 year old, travelling half way across the world to play football in one of the most famous stadiums in the world.and young Maradona was not phased one tiny bit.
Similar to Phil, debut in a friendly match on the other side of the world in front of 80k fans, match played at a pulsating beat, both teams going hammer and toungue....he shone.
When asked to take a penalty at wembley against one of the top two sides in the country,he was there..first trip to Wembley in a meaningful match,a league cup final, playing 'out of posistion' on the wide right of midfield....man of the match.
Newport away,fa cup..quagmire of a pitch...91% passing accuracy, two goals, man of the match.
Last season ,playing the champions liverpool at home...not fazed..two goals ,5nil win,man of the match.
Foden was special from day one.
And last season Pep.his goals could have been instrumental in us giving redscouse a proper title race, not lagging 20 points behind as also rans....imo. ;)

There are times when he, at 20 years old, looks a class above his teammates, who are all splendid players in their own rights. That how good this guy is.

Credit to Pep, he seems to have got it spot on in terms of development and introduction to the 1st team. Agree he's the best option on the left and maybe with Raz on the right and FFS on the bench we can get back to the shape of the team when Sane and Raz were on either wing.
