I know all the comparisons with Grealish in the media don't mention our young Foden is 4 years younger

5 years younger

To be fair it's kind of irrelevant.

They aren't discussing who might be better over their careers for England, or even in 2 or 3 years time, all the debates around Foden, Grealish, Mount and Maddison are about who is better right now, going into the Euros.

When they are on the pitch in a KO game this summer, whether you are 35 or 25 or 20 doesn't matter, only how good you are on the day.

Foden gets a lot of love from the media.

One of his finest tonight. If only he’d been teeing them up for a striker with a natural strikers sense of positioning in the box, we could’ve had a hatful.

He looked so confident tonight. I loved the way he ran at defenders and created panic in the Villa defence. He is going to be an absolute superstar in the next few years.

Despite starting brightly in that 1st half, I got a little frustrated with some of decisions in the final third but he was a different player in the 2nd half. Pep must've really lit a fire under them and the difference was palpable

Phil has a really bright future, just needs to follow along this path and take the step up to world class - he has the tools to do it. Even without a goal, there was a lot to like about how he played considering the circumstances

Now imagine last night but with a full stadium. Great match

The big improvement I've seen in the past few games is his strength to retain possession and also going to ground to buy a free kick if he's nowhere else to go. If he continues to improve those aspects of his game, as he has, then my word he's going to be special.

That little run into the box, using both feet to skip past the two defenders... sensational. He can use both feet, beat the man, score goals or find a team mate and his technique is something special. He just keeps getting better and if he keeps his current trajectory of improvement then next season he'll start being mentioned as one of the best in the world.

The EFL Cup final was the day it ended for me. Phil was brilliant that day and Grealish spent more time punching the floor than he did passing the ball

Grealish is a quality player, but he's older and has a different role to Phil. When England played Belgium, Grealish was absolute class. He ran the game and looked the best player on the pitch. I don't think you can pick one off games. City are better than Villa so Grealish will always be up against it.

Either way they're both excellent and Phil is considerably younger. It's not a competition between them. Having two good English players is great. I'd love to see Grealish at City.
