I am sorry but I just dont get the hype surrounding Phil, just hear me out please. And don't judge me just yet

He has been at the club since a very young boy, yes there were whispers back then that he had some ability, but he was small in stature, so some doubt remained

He went on to continue playing in our youth team watched under the control of differing managers. These managers heard the whispers but never really took any notice...He then had to try and catch the eye of the greatest club manager and modern day tactician that is Pep - a very hard thing to achieve. Almost impossible unless you are deemed a player that has the ability to play his way, philosophy etc etc

As time went on Foden actually started to get a little more attention, especially after his performance in the youth world cup....but countless times he was advised by the media and pundits to go out on loan.

"Dont stay there, you wont get a look in"

"No chance he will break into the city squad"

" City dont promote youth players, they buy players only. Youth team progression is the united way"

Every signing City made it was seen as a negative, and one that would hold Fodens apparent progress back and stop what little ability he may have from reaching its level - more calls for him to go out on loan, mostly from the media and the pundits once more.

And let's not forget the treatment from Pep. Kept bigging him up in those press conferences didnt he.....but never actually played him. Then Pep might bring him on with 2 minutes left in a game - surely if Pep actually rated Foden not a chance he would do that, would he?

Fast forward somewhat......

This season he has done well, considering all the obstacles that were put in his way....the obstacles mostly put their by the media and pundits I might add

And look where it has led us to and more importantly Foden, as of right now tuesday 9th Feb 2021.

2 days after a huge game against the tide mark's.

It turns out that, he actually played alright. He caused a supposed left back in TAA lauded as the best in world football (mostly stated by the media and pundits, again) to looking like a championship level defender. I found that quite funny on the night, because as we all know TAA isnt that great at all....anyway, let's get back to Foden.

He showed great commitment and courage ( something Phil said himself in his post match interview) that his team mates also fed into on the night. Not too bad for a young 20 year old English player, surrounded by older multi-talented international players....

After he had terrorized TAA to point of him looking like a fish out of water, Foden then had the audacity to switch sides to the other flank and then take the game to liverpool once more.

Taking on 2 liverpool players who were desperately trying to stay with him, and then split the remaining liverpool defence along with allison (a keeper revered by non other than.....yep you guessed it the uk sports media, as the worlds best keeper) making the defenders and chasing liverpool players look like training ground fodder, allison can be excluded from that last statement as we all know cold feet is a horrible feeling.

And then there was that goal, okay okay it was good. But really was it...after receiving the ball out wide, Foden once more went direct.

The opposing liverpool RB - Robinson (lauded as the best RB in world football. I will give you 2 guesses by who?.......come on we all know, the uk sports media and pundits..... take a bow if you guessed correctly by the way) backed off and backed off.

Foden decided to shimmy inside, all the while 2 other liverpool players were making there way over to him (not sure if they are the worlds best so forgive me on this one) and unleashed a shot that whizzed past the worlds best goalkeeper, albeit with cold feet. Whilst the remaining liverpool players watched the ball leave Fodens feet in the blink of an eye, the ball already a few bounces on the ground in the liverpool goal by the time they had chance to turn their heads.

But after all this I just dont get it.....and you want to know why

Because Garth Crooks states he is only good, because of who he is surrounded by !!!!!

Behave Garth Crooks and fucking do one you joker

Sounds like you watched the game through a mirror.

Apart from getting left n right mixed up, I enjoyed that.

You must speak to my sisters as they’re similar and God help you if you get in a car with them where left actually means right....

Anyway back to Foden, the future is here!

I totally get the hype surrounding Foden.
He follows the instructions given to him by Pep without question
Having followed boss's instructions he finds this works for him, the team and said team results.
Having trained for a long time with the likes of David Silva, KDB, Aguero, Fern... list goes on.
No surprise he is doing well.

He’s pretty good at football isn’t he.

Potential to be City’s best and most decorated player ever.

If he stays fit he’ll reach the very top.

Now that he is getting all the spotlight teams are going to plan a special treatment for him, especially next year when he will have played most of the teams and they can figure out what works against him, but he has enough weapons in his game to adapt.

Getting to the top is hard, staying there is harder. Can't wait to see what Foden 2.0 will look like.

They’ll figure out quickly that nothing works against him. For all of his talent, he’s main asset is his footballing brain. He’s 2 steps ahead of the opposition, which is something that can’t be stopped if you also have his talents on the ball. And.....he’s only going to get better

Some gooner on talksport saying the boy foden isn’t as good as wilshere ..... Durham couldn’t contain his laughter

They do actually have quite a similar style of play in my opinion. The main difference is that Wilshere relied more on playing one two's with teammates whereas Foden can dribble past opponents on his own with more ease.
