He certainly is not a captain material. He can't barely take care of his own self and his professional demeanor. Plenty of players have gone wrong. He has got a start in that direction, unfortunately. Minor things, so far. Hopefully, things remain minor.
Barely take care of his own self? What have you been smoking?

He is an adult who can't follow instructions of a professional outfit with other professionals. He can't. He needs hand-holding, which his agents should do.

You're doing that silly thing that silly people do when they take one silly thing and draw silly conclusions from it.

Stop it. Stop being silly.

From winter on last season, Foden has had the hold on the starting spot. This season will be his first full. It has been great and not so great. He is a well known person, with disposable income and suspect personal judgement. His agent better set boundaries and ground rules. He can't, and the club shouldn't need to, as it is a gathering of professionals. He, and his agents, need to get it right himself.

He has a long way to go as a players. That also means that he has a lot of time to do something that hinders his career. Hopefully, that contract has a get-out clause for the benefit of the club.

What the fuck is going on here?

He is probably the best young player in the world and he has now been told off by his manager and dropped. This is what happens in a world class team with a top manager. In an environment less dedicated to excellence, he would have kept his place. He will learn and that, for me, is the end of the need to punish him or (quite ridiculously) blame others for his downfall (that hasn't even happened).

Pep needs to treat Phil the way Ferguson treated his young stars way back when.
give them a chance to fuck up, once, at An absolute pinch, twice. (giggs) and then a third time show them the door (sharpe).
He has the potential to be the best in the world in his position. A zidane or an Iniesta. He also has the potential to be a criminal waste of talent. A Gazza or a joe Cole.

Ultimately it is up to Phil himself to decide, but he clearly needs a strong hand guiding him whilst he makes the decision.
