I agree, Grealish, Haaland and Foden is our best front 3, the boss see's it a bit differently though. People calling for Phil to play centrally now, haven't really thought it through, as to who plays wide, and who the MF 3 would be.
Yeah a lot of people have not realised that playing centrally does not necessary meaning starting as a midfielder.

An inverted winger can easily roam into the center of the pitch and it sometimes has bigger influence on the game than starting as a pure midfielder. We saw it in Messi Salah and so on. I think that it is Pep's plan but don't understand why he changed mind last night.

It looks likely that the team was told to favour possession and to pass back rather than to get at their fullbacks.
Yes it certainly looked that way and it was bizarre when we had him one on one with Milner a few times. If keeping the ball was the plan KDB mustn’t have got the memo

Expected a bit more from Phil tonight. He wasn't bad, but just didn't have those moments of quality we're used to seeing. It can't be easy for him or anybody to be in and out one game to the next. How are players supposed to get in a flow?

He's being stifled a bit too much imo. You want to see him running at his fullback and taking them on more, his game is becoming too safe and retention focused. Anfield in particular he should have been terrorising Milner.

Its fairly clear he's just following Peps instructions as all the wingers are at it but Phil's actually got the ability to dribble past players and make something happen and we need to see more of that again.thats how we break down teams camped on their box and create space elsewhere.

Foden has looked jade in some games and lacking a spark , which is a strange thing to say when you look at his stats , he's played a lot of top level football at 22years old and maybe i am expecting too much from him , i think he's good enough to win the Balon D'Or in the future because on his day he is unplayable. A bit of sun on his back in Qatar might do the job.
Imagine a Balon D'Or winner from Stockport , we can dream :)

Slightly concerned about his progression, mainly down to his inability to grab a game by the throat. He also needs to learn how to win and protect the ball, currently he's weak as fuck in a challenge and is almost guaranteed to lose any 50/50.

A few sessions in the gym wouldn't go amiss.
