Phil gets moved all over the front. Usually swapping positions multiple times during a game. He's also in for one game, out for the next, no matter how he performs. So anybody expecting him to be stellar every single game is asking far too much. How is he expected to find any kind of rhythm? He's that naturally talented that we almost demand him to do something amazing every time he starts. Pep needs to stop pissing him around and just play him where he's best.

Was dross last night playing wide left. The formation was very odd as well. It was more of a 4-4-2 but Phil seemed to be under instruction to play more narrow at times to allow Cancelo to push forwards and create the width. But it just didn't work. Alvarez couldn't really get into the game and it was just one of those days. I don't blame Phil too much, he's not a winger. What did strike me is at one point Phil was on the charge but so easily caught and tackled by Emre Can. He's got such great feet and speed of thought but he's not that quick and as he's also not that strong he's quite easily held off at times. I'd like to see him work on his physical strength now.

A wonderful player, who's contributed a lot this season already despite the inconsistency of his position.

Slightly concerned about his progression, mainly down to his inability to grab a game by the throat. He also needs to learn how to win and protect the ball, currently he's weak as fuck in a challenge and is almost guaranteed to lose any 50/50.

A few sessions in the gym wouldn't go amiss.
Unfortunately Phil is not a player who will win a game on his own.

been really disappointed with Foden's consistency, or lack of, sadly.

I've been really disappointed with Pep shoehorning others into the team at his expense. The lad needs to be playing in his best/natural position, just like half a dozen others......of course we are still brilliant and most teams cant live with us,but i genuinely don't think we are getting the best out of some individuals because of the forced line ups.

perhaps you're right, he does suffer the formation change a lot and gets used across the park, but i still think his general standards have dropped. And i mean from very high to just a bit less.

Aren’t you the same person who constantly defending Grealish? Foden has been our outstanding player in loads of games. The season before last, he was arguably our most important player.

To defend Grealish who is 5 years his senior and then say Foden’s “inability to grab a name by the scruff of its neck” is simply laughable.

He was unplayable in the Derby, I mean literally unplayable. Many times in Europe he’s been our match winning.

He’s 22 and far far superior to Mahrez and Grealish, so it’s him that Pep trusts to do the job that they can’t!

Foden is a simply wonderful talent, and perhaps his biggest talent is his selflessness for the team. He & Bernardo along with Haaland & Rodri are our most important players and KDB our most dangerous.
