This 100%

It's an appalling waste of talent when you think about it. Whatever happened to teams playing to their strengths?

2017 Man City 5 - Monaco 3 / Monaco 3 - Man City 1
2018 Liverpool 3 - Man City 0 / Man City 1 - Liverpool 2
2019 Tottenham 1 - Man City 0 / Man City 4 - Tottenham 3

Pep got weary of giving up too many goals while playing to our strength so he wants more "control" of the ball as the other team can't score against us if they don't have the ball.

And 16 goals given up in 16 games is driving Pep bald!

When we played Monaco we were nowhere ready. 2 of the most entertaining City games i’ve seen but that was the start of the brilliant football Pep got us playing ( we were nowhere near in the league that season). The other 2 Pep dicked about with the team and style in both away games. At home to a great Liverpool team we were superb but had a mountain to climb and as usual against then we didn’t get fair decisions. That Tottenham home game again we had to chase it because of the bad decisions he made in the away game. We were absolutely superb but you can’t legislate for 2 absolute howlers from your centre half however you set up.

It’s worrying if he’s based this new style on that and the Madrid home game where again missed chances and no proper fullback cost us. Look at all the other times he’s changed. our style at Anfield and in Europe (average Lyon side) and in the final against Chelsea where it’s not worked anyway.

We’d have qualified from all of those CL games had the refs done their jobs properly.

He is a tremendous talent but, at the highest levels of the world game, absolutely nobody should be guaranteed their place, and certainly not a young player.

True, but i think he deserves better than being shoehorned.Much like Bernardo.
Very true but he needs to step up and start dictating games like Kdb. Both players have suffered because we have a world class player in their coveted position.

Foden or Grealish or Bernardo all need raise their consistency, if Kev is off we look shit. None of them deserve to take his position.

Step up or stop moaning.

I agree to an extent but with Bernado and Gundo together we’ve done very well without Kev. He’s always been inconsistent in games because he takes so many risks. Obviously his numbers in terms of assists are always excellent because of his quality. The way we’re set up currently though if he is off it the whole team performance is.

I agree. Kev is not untouchable. The team as a whole seems at times more balanced with Bernardo and Gundo centrally. Especially now with the big fella up front. It’s a big call for Pep and one he is not currently going to make unless kev gets an injury.

Kdb is a high risk player and at times we can’t carry him due to others not performing. Catch 22 situation. Imo we have 5/6 players not performing so why should Kev be dropped?

Bottom line for me is that those who want to play for city and are currently in the right mind space should start. It will be uncomfortable viewing at times as they may not be as good as the player not playing.

Spot on,this narrative that we struggle without Kev is a nonsense....more so since he stopped bossing the midfield and giving the ball away much more.
