Nobody earns the right to take that shot, it has to be passed 100% of the time in that situation.

Even a striker like Agüero passed to a player in a better position when he could have scored himself (think Liverpool at home in the 5-0).

I’m sure there are plenty of times where aguero or de Bruyne took the shot instead of passed it. There is no way they passed 100% of the time. 1 on 1 with the keeper lots of players take the shot

A split second decision.

Exactly. He doesn’t unless there’s an injury. And there was no injury. Foden was subbed because of what he was doing on the pitch, there is no debate to be had about that. He has to kick on and be seen to be improving his weaknesses. Pep’s obviously going to do his bit to ensure that happens. Up to Phil now.

How on earth do you 100% know that’s why he was taken off? And how have you come to that conclusion already.

He played quite well yesterday and got a good goal. We are two games in..

Should have passed. No brainer.
The viking will no doubt have had a word in Phil's shell-like.

Doubt it will be a very popular opinion, but I think he needs to step it up a bit, seems to be stuck in the full of promise tag, IF and it a big IF bernardo goes then foden could be the one to replace him in that position , he has the pace he has the skills etc but he seems to be stagnating a little with his progress, really want to see him take a game by the scruff of the neck like we think he could, maybe if he played in a set position a bit more instead of moving positions every game we might see more from him

He’s often one of our best players, despite being one of the youngest. It’s not promise when he’s scoring, assisting or generally being one of the best player on the pitch.

He has one of the best goal involvements stats for any young player in the league and often plays well in the biggest games (Liverpool away for instance). He also hugely contributed to a our last few league titles. How on earth is it promise?

Of course Younger players have spells where they don’t play well. That’s to be expected. A goal and assist yesterday is a great start

IF he was pulled off for shooting and not passing, fair enough. But Mahrez has done that numerous times in his City career and not been subbed, so it would be double standards from Pep.

He doesn't blue, just lots of people seeing their arse about one of the most gifted footballers to pull on a blue shirt because he didn't pass the ball. We won 4-0 ffs.

I think it depends on how Pep handles it going forward with Haaland. Prior to Haaland and often playing a False 9, that shot would be expected since it’s likely no one would have made the run Haaland did. It’s a learning process in my opinion.

As for Mahrez on particular yesterday, I was very impressed with his decision-making which I’ve not always been. Foden will catch on quickly, I think.

It’s a strange one this, as Phil a pretty average first half by his own exceptional standards - yet still managed to score a goal and get an assist, and had another stopped with an excellent save.

I’d be surprised if he was hooked purely for his performance, as it definitely wasn’t that bad - so I’d guess it was either a tactical or precautionary switch.
