To those claiming the assist was difficult for phil yesterday, take a look at how sancho was assisted under much more pressure just now...and that is from a rag player.

He should have passed first time or cut back and pass. No excuses.
this is what I am saying. Foden even had many seconds to look up before the ball was played and after it was played he plain tried to have a hero moment

Really he’s been Leroy’s replacement and is comparable. I’m just disappointed that despite the obvious physical development he has made he hasn’t accelerated in numbers and consistency from where he was 2 years ago. He perhaps could have been as guaranteed a starting place as De Bruyne and Rodri by now and he isn’t. just another forward to rotate.

Should we compare him to messi?

Speed - yes
Dribbling - yes
Wrong foot - maybe not
Shooting ability - yes
Skills - yes

Pep said he was as talented and even tried to play him in the false 9 at a similar age.
Speed - yes
Dribbling - THE BIGGEST NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wrong foot - maybe not
Shooting ability - NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Skills - NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scoring - NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Passing - NO!!!!!!!!

Anyway we should not compare him to Messi. It's unfair to Foden.
Yet, we should criticize him for not giving easy passes like this for a top or even good professional footballer.
He is young, he can change that soon. I hope. It still hurts my heart as it could easily have been 0-2.

“The pass wasn’t on”

Sancho’s goal tonight shows that the pass absolutely was on. And Phil had more margin for error as Haaland was moving fast, versus Sancho being fairly static.

So from what I can see here.

1. The United player has absolutely no chance to shoot, so not comparable to Phil who had an opportunity.

2. The United player slowed down leading up to the ball unlike Phil who was at top speed running towards it.

3. The United players pass nutmegs the Liverpool defender (which is pretty lucky), and he had 3 options in the box, unlike Phil who had one.

This is just getting embarrassing from this forum honestly.

Phil in an instant has to pick between 2 valid options, and perhaps picked the wrong one, but given how often he scores from the left and the fact that it's on, and considering I can see him thinking he can't make the pass come off... I'm thinking yeah, let's back the fuck off him for this action.

Got no problems with him taking a shot in that circumstance, I’m surprised it’s generated the level of discussion it has.

More concerning was he turned into blind alleys more than a few times and left us really vulnerable to the counter.

Ha! Amazing. Mate, you've just said i'm over inflating my own view when you literally just made it out that you speak for the majority. Come on. You're still at with the 'we' stuff too! Can you let me know who this 'we' is?

You disagree, sure, but you literally do not speak for blues. Nor do I. It's your take. That's fine, but don't act like some posts on here are representative, hold any power or make your view truthful. It's obviously an over simplification. People love a fucking moan, we all know this. Of course some disgruntled people are gonna come here and moan. It's all most people use this forum for.

I'm not saying im right, cos you all might be, but unsurprisingly some pissed off posts on here doesn't prove anything. By that reasoning it makes Pep actually overrated and a fraud without money because most of red cafe and rawk think he is, which is obviously bullshit. Popular opinion isnt always a right one. I'm fine with that, cos that's life.

Anyway, away from that nonsense. The Foden debate reminds me of the Haaland moment vs Bayern.

He decided to pass. If he'd shot he'd have got his shot off and the defender wouldn't have been able to stop it. The defender was *miles* off him but slowing down to take the pass, and the angle the ball had to travel, meant it was cut out. Passing and wrapping your foot down around it can slow you down and give the defender a better chance. I'm convinced that Foden attempting to cut it back *could*, not definitely, cos i cant prove it, but could have been cut out. Really reasonable chance it could have been IMO, cos we've seen it a tonne over the years and got frustrated by a City player choosing to try and pass it there and not put their laces through it. I don't think it was even close to an egregious mistake and i reckon everyone has made a huge mountain out of a molehill.
Very very well explained..
The backlift lasts about half a second. I just don't agree that a pass would be any less easier to read as there are only two outcomes here, a pass or a shot. Both easy to read. The pass requires him to wrap his foot around it. Equally as readable. I get the Bournemouth one but I think people are intensely overreacting to this one due to frustration. And no one was arsed when Foden took that same shot against literally the best keeper in the league in Allison and scored. He's scored plenty from that angle.
Yep.

We are 3 games into a new season with a new approach to how we play so forgive me for not panicking about two of the greatest prospects in world football not gelling instantly.
The instant unjustified criticism of Phil by some on this forum is bizarre and frankly embarrassing. The best young talent in English football who is a blue playing in the best team in England and still they are not happy. Shakes head in bewilderment.

If his recent performances had been flawless then I agree criticism would be unjustified. But they haven’t been.
Posters can still be happy to bits that he plays for us, cheer him on at the match, but also after the game reflect on his performances on here and make some critical comments as well as positive ones.
Just because he’s a wonderful young talent for club and country, who supports the club, shouldn’t mean that critical comments are a non-starter. It shouldn’t be an either/or situation.

It's been building for a while, to be fair. Typical bluemoon shit.

Anyway, if it feels like any consolation, just remind yourself that so many people come out with yearly "Kev looks fat and past it" comments whenever he and the team has a brief dip in form. It's like old people's Facebook on here most of the time.
