He has done that though. In plenty of games he’s controlled possession and made the difference.

Something is off with him though. He looks like he’s lost his confidence. I still think he’s a midfielder who needs time and patience to show what he can do there

I actually thought this was the season where he really needed to cement himself as a top player because we’ve seen flashes of it and many people expected him to be world-class, but that requires consistency.

He seems to have gone backwards this season if anything

It’s not like he’s a young kid anymore, by the end of next season he’ll be pretty much mid 20s. You have to be really establishing yourself by that age.

I don’t think playing out on the left is really helping him, but he’s put in good performances before from there, so it can’t be one of the main excuses.

It’s like his confidence is a bit shot and he’s hiding in games. Grealish isn’t probably naturally left-wing either, but when he came on today, he was able to take up good positions to get the ball. There’s no reason Foden couldn’t do that instead of being anonymous.

Because Guardiola has had him playing all over the damn place. He's never going to show what he's capable of without playing in the same position for a run of games. And his position certainly isn't out wide as a winger.

Has it crossed your mind that perhaps the reason why he isn't being played in one position regularly, is because he isn't actually very good in any particular position

Yea he was rubbish on the left in all of those league wins and matches we dominated. He’s been very good on the left and as a false 9, contributing hugely to us winning the league.

He can play in a number of positions and play excellent. Good players can play in a number of positions. He’s lost his confidence and isn’t playing well at the minute.

Same age or older than mbappe. That's the level we were expecting from Phil as that's the potential he has/had.. Not good enough currently
