He's too nice.

He's happy to lay the ball off for others. Doesn't demand it aggresively enough for England.

Having said that shoehorn Bellingham out on the left and see how well he does there.
Yep. He needs to just think fuck it and do what we know hes about.

He was piss poor and anyone who thinks that was Southgate needs to give their head a wobble. An excellent player in blue but awful tonight. Showcased by him giving the ball away when an easy pass inside was on, winning a free kick to release pressure, he then took quickly and gave away.

He needs to shout louder and make more of an impression on the game. It's down to him even if it's inarguable Southgate doesn't know how to use him

It's sad when folk are on his case here, BBCs haters are just par for the course. Phil needs to play in a system that uses his skills, Baghead is incapable of setting that up.

I love Phil, but he was shite tonight. It happens, but it's not all on Southgate. Plenty of basic things he didn't do right. Just needs to play with the same confidence he does with us, turn and shoot or take people on. Keep demanding the ball and trying to make things happen. That's all it takes to be seemed a great player in an England shirt.

he is with an actual left back and a midfielder who doesn't stand on his fucking shoes. he's better elsewhere though i agree with that.
Even Pep doesn't play him wide left and we do have the better balanced side.

Hes played a huge amount of minutes at AML, particularly in 2020/21 when we won the league, won the efl, lost in the UCL final coz of pep and lost in the semis of the fa cup - and he was the best player on the pitch very very often. He can play there - for sure, the whole problem is the setup with England. Yes he's better on the rightside of midfield cutting in, but he's languishing outside on the left for England because of the whole makeup of the squad is to let Bellingham do what the fuck he wants and everything else is pure fucking throw shit at the wall.

But I wouldn't call the 2020-21 season his very best season at City and his most effective position is the one he is currently playing at his club side.
