Still believe Guardiola mishandled his development positionally, not so much in terms of game time. Played him in a different role every season, whether it be LW, F9, RW, or 10. Comes out publicly on multiple occasions out to say he lacks certain traits to play in midfield, but then never actually played him there to “learn” those traits.. this year was the first and even then it was infrequent. Foden's got by on sheer talent alone but he’s not specialised in any particular role.
Saka plays RW week in, week out. Bellingham B2B week in, week out. Don’t think either of them are better than Phil but both impact England games 10x more than Foden does because they’re just a lot more comfortable in their roles. Phil doesn’t look confident playing for England and seems to play within himself, it’s like he’s playing not to lose the ball when he should play more like Bellingham who plays with all the arrogance in the world.
