47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

His drop of form is truly a mystery for me. He used to pop up everywhere with magic - be it shots, passes or runs... Now hes really a passenger, even though nothing significant has changed in the team from last year. Just weird, I can see why people try to explain it with personal or health problems. But regardless which one it is from the two, he should take some time off to recover imo. No use forcing him if his head isn't into it or his body is not what it should be.
I don’t know a thing about his personal life, health or otherwise. But I think he was shattered before the euros after playing his arse off for the titles, then didn’t perform the way he was expected to, got the 007 abuse on social media and the constant bloody ranting since. I’m sure he can ignore the trolls on social media to some extent but hard to avoid the general disappointment around his Euros performance and it’s reflected throughout his season since. All the weirdness that was happening there - so close to scoring, nearly got a few good assists - have been going on at city too. Mix of bad luck and lack of confidence.

He was doing well in CL scoring in s few consecutive games and feels like he has a few decent games in prem followed by a anonymous showing again before glimpses come back in.

It’s shit timing and a massive disappointment for everyone. I’m sure Phil feels that more than all of us. Just got to hope he gets back on form. No lack of talent or willingness imho, he just needs some luck to go his way.

Knew he wasn’t up for it as soon as he ducked out of the challenge that led to the offside/penalty decision

Even though I prefer him centrally, this drop in form no matter where he plays is on him.

Pep should just bench him until he figures his shit out.

Id rather see McAtee or a promising U21 academy player play.

He did well enough in the first half without pulling up any trees and played his part in the whole team's defensive work today without sparkling in the 2nd half. It's been a difficult season with the routine being disrupted by the Euros and illnesses. Phil will come good again. Like so many, he us exhausted.
