47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

I don't agree with that. There has been, over the years, many local lads like Derek Jefferies, Tony Towers, to name two,who were given a rough ride despite being local lads. Foden is loved by the City's fanbase because he's an excellent player.
The last time we produced a player with such talent was when Stan Bowles appeared on the scene. A magical player with a flawed off-field personality. I hope Phil doesn’t go the same way.

He gets a very easy ride because he is a local lad,
I don't think he 'gets a very easy ride because he's a local lad', I think it's that he's got absolutely loads of credit in the bank with blues because he's the most successful academy product City have ever produced and has delivered on the pitch time and time again. And we know he will once more, so we're just being patient with him. It's not him getting an easy ride, this is just where supporters show their gratitude towards players who've changed the destiny of this club - and Phil gets shown more gratitude because he's one of us.

Nicky Summerbee was a cnut, end of story.
I disagree. I liked him. Not interested in the off field stuff where it was said he hated football etc...
He had a huge cross to bear being the son of one of our Legends.
He may have been pushed into the game reluctantly, having go deal with all the pressure of his family ties
Fwiw I thought he was a pretty good crosser of the ball from the wing, and played his part in an exciting attacking cameo under Brian Horton, culminating in that brilliant 5- 3 destruction of spurs at Maine rd
When Peter Beagrie and buzzer ripped an all out attacking spuds team to bits.
Not the quickest player ,but I think he did his best for City, and we fans expected too much of him really, he was never anywhere near his Dads level, but I thought he tried. He didn't shirk any tackles and had a mean low pile driver shot .used to hit the ball very hard and low.
Enjoyed watching him play football tbh

Phil started slowly last season, but came into his own during the winter. Give him a break, he will come good again. The England team set-up doesn’t take advantage of his skills, Bellingham and TAA never pass to him yet despite all that, he could easily have been England’s top scorer in the Euros, with a bit of the rub of the green

He does have a bit of wriggle room with having a quiet season and that is not down to him being an Academy product or a local lad either. More times than not he has delivered whilst at CIty.

He just doesn’t play good for the national team. No one is the absolute vocal point of the team. Too many superstars yet some and the other try something. Foden just never scores or assists for the national team and those Bellingham’s and Taa ain’t exactly the reason especially when the second barely played anyways and was behind Walker in the RB standings the whole time. Foden gets away with too much in my opinion.

Phil would have to develop a whole new personality from what has now to be anything like Stan was.

Foden is way ahead than Jefferies or Towers ever were.

Ranson and Edgehill the abuse those two got was shocking and a disgrace to our fans that did it.

Foden this season has been poor, without KDB and Rodri he needed to stay at last years levels but he is way off, yet you here very little saying so.

He needs to get that level back, he should be one of our teams leaders on and off the field now.
He will get back to them levels because he's a great footballer.

I thought he played brilliantly against Newcastle at home last season and that was only the second game of the season.

No worries about Phil. Early days in the season. I think his delivery from corner kicks has been exceptional by the way and we probably should have had 1 or 2 more goals from them really
