The difference is that he's a much better footballer than Rashford, you'd essentially be selling a brilliant youngish footballer that was winning all the player of the year awards not even a year ago, just on the back of one poor season. You have to keep him to see if he will get back to his best, even at the risk of it becoming a Rashford situation. His talent should buy him a lot more time and patience than someone like Rashford.

Unless of course you agree with all the arsenal fans, dippers and rags that have been saying he's vastly overrated for a while. Just like we said about Rashford.
But that's what I mean when I say he's at a great market value atm so it's worth considering selling if we think he can't rediscover his form.

I don't think Foden is overrated but this version of Foden is such an ineffective footballer. I can't recall the last excellent pass he made or the last mazy dribble etc. His game has become so reductionist that he's not even enjoyable to watch and it's bordering on genuinely painful watching him play for England.

You can't put rashford and foden in the same sentence.
One is having a poor season but he's won loads including the treble.
The other has had half a good season in his whole career.
The rest of the time he is fucking useless and a big headed twat

Saw a post somewhere criticising him for only providing 3 assists for Haaland. Well there’s about 4 chances he creates for him here in the first 2 mins alone

I’m beginning to wonder if he is just a great player when in a great side like we have been for the whole of his career bar this one.

He has looked nothing special for England in a relatively poor side and this season for us in what has been a poor performing side.

Time will tell I suppose but it would be madness to sell him.

Just so out of sorts at present, should never have been starting for England not been good enough for ages. Needs to rediscover his old form quick and it's a mystery why he's playing so poorly

last summer into the seasons start he seemed off/unwell, after Christmas had a mini return to form but lile all others struggled with consistency as the season has left most erratic.

A good rest and a pre season and he can and will come good agan, playing for england isn't doing him any favours atm with the bellingham wankfest and dicks on social media

Probably would of been better ‘withdrawing’ from England set up for a while and go fishing

I don’t think we were a great side last year, least not without him

We’d be mad to sell him but his form this season has been very worrying to say the least. You can count on one hand how many good games he’s had.

I'll tell you when his last mazy dribble was.,away at in a cup match against Cheltenham, went past 8 players before losing the ball.Pep would have been furious.
And before that, for young England in a tournament in France, receiving the ball in centre mid from Madison,he proceeded to weave his way into the 6 yard box, dribbling round 6 or 7 players, and when the keeper came rushing out, dropped his shoulder and made him sit down ,before calmly stroking the ball home.
Next match adey boothroyd the manager dropped him to the bench,.....it was a goal on a bar ,if not better than kinkladzes v Southampton...but Fodens is easily forgotten.

The lads in bad form and seems to have lost half a yard of pace, but. prime time Fodens natural attacking instincts and flair have been restricted by managers,imo....."the team comes before any individual" mantra.

No one can argue with Pep,but adeyfucking boothroyd?

Surely if Phil is going through things us fans don’t know about and it’s having a massive effect on him then surely playing him in front of 50k fans is not gonna get him back to his best. He needs a break from the game somethings you can’t play through and the club should know that.

It looks to me as if his confidence is shot. He's gone far too safe. Let's hope he can regain the form of last season.

I don't think Pep is asking him to not show his ability, you only have to witness what Phil was doing last season to see that's not true, he has also dropped Phil from the side, so he's obviously not happy with what he's doing on the pitch.

I'd agree.

It's interesting that Palmer at Chelsea who has played every game since moving there ,and like Foden played for England last summer has been given an extended break by his club with the help of a phantom injury ,he's probably burnt out after playing practically no top level football before joining Chelsea .
Rodri talked of burn out before the season started ..and Foden said he was knackered after returning from England duty last summer.
Little signs here and there that players are creaking under the weight of top level football.
Nothing will be done about it of course.......the commercial bandwagon rolls on and on..

Yeah I did witness what Phil was doing last season , playing to the managers instruction sharp passing dropping into pockets if space shooting from distance, intelligent runs into the box etc etc.
None of this has anything to do with the specific point about mazy dribbling ,which my post was an answer to..

Why does Savinho start ahead of him then and more specifically Doku? If he doesn’t want players to dribble. Don’t remember him stopping Messi or Robben either. So it’s just Foden who he’s stopped and if he wanted him just play square passes like he’s been doing for ages why does he keep dropping him.

The excuses for Foden’s lack of form and drive seem endless.

He was also grabbing games by the scruff of the neck. Pep’s systems have always allowed for individual flair in the final third, which Phil did last season but not this.

Definitely, he should of fuked off the England set up this time

Do you actually think not showing up to this England call up would've been a good idea? We're 15 months from the World Cup and this international break is all qualifiers. Phil wouldn't be doing himself any favors by starting off on the wrong foot with Tuchel in rejecting the call up at a time like this. If it was just friendlies or Nations League, then no problem staying home at all.
