4k TVs

Mine arrives on Friday, looking forward to seeing how good it is, never had an oled before :)

Check Vincent out for settings, he also has ones for different consoles etc
@shevtheblue your right about JL and burn in guarantee but there have been huge steps to stop this so I took the chance and went with RS. Also LG are brilliant for games but if you don’t game Sony is best for films.

A bit optimistic to expect a 42" C2 for less than £700 a year from now then...

Yep, but you watch any reviewer who does a video or article about how they've done with an OLED a few years on and they all mention some kind of degradation. 5 years is a long period if you're watching the sports channels with Sky or BT sport's logos.

The way prices drop I think I’d be buying another within 5 years, especially when micro led is the norm

I have a 2016 LG OLED, it was great but then got burn-in and nobody covered it, Richer Sounds were useless. I was on the look out for a new one and i know LG have done a lot of work in the pixel shift department to help with burn-in, but i know it's still a big issue in all OLED panels. My usage is mostly films and TV, although i do have a PS5 i don't intend to use it on my TV much. The options i really looked at were a 55" LG C1 or the 55" Sony A80J. The OS for LG was quite good on my last one but it got pretty slow towards the end, i know the Sony one is Android and i have another Sony LED Android TV as well and the OS its atrociously slow, so i was hesitant to get another Android at first. But having seen a few reviews and seeing comparisons of picture, i went for the a80J from John Lewis. One thing about getting an OLED, i would suggest to everyone to get it from JL and always pay the £140 for the accidental insurance, it's the only one i've ever seen that specifically mentions burn-in as something it covers. They also do price matching and even though they had this TV on for about 1399, i found it on some website for £969 and JL agreed to match the price! The TV is amazing tbh, the OS is snappy and one thing i can say for sure is that the AI upscaling it does on SD and HD content is brilliant. Watching IPTV streams, there's a noticeable quality upscale on 720p content that makes it much closer to 1080p and the 1080p has more pop to it as well. I use a Sonos soundbar with 2 rears, i noticed the sound quality is much better that when it used the LG, i think this is because it as eARC tech, which the new LG's will have as well tbf. But by all accounts (can't vouch for this because i've never used it myself) the sound from the TV itself is brilliant. If you are planning to use it mostly for gaming, i think the C1 is the better choice, but i'm more than happy with the A80j.

I had similar issues with burn in and switched to a direct led rather than OLED. I’ll go back to it at some point but no reason to really at the mo, there’s not that much content that really utilises the power of my current set.

I also bought a full array LED for the same reasons, even though it was the top one at the time and it does have Dolby Vision, there is def a drop off in picture quality.

Going with the 55in C1 from Richer Sounds for 1300 quid. Bit more than my budget but a 6 year warranty and the fact it'll only be used for gaming and light streaming swung it for me.

I've recently bought the LG 48 C1 (OLED48C14LB) for £830.. an absolute steal. Great TV. Did have to replace a scart DVD Player and buy HDMI's and USB to Ethernet adapter. And bought a nice stand so my Sonos can sit directly under it on the corner stand.

TIP: LG authorised dealer run deals, and shortly after LG themselves run their 10% codes, so do these. I set an alert on PriceSpy for the TV, then the seller it alerted me to also had the 10% code and topcashback also gave me £6 for just using their link.

I bought from Crampton and Moore. Over Easter they'll do this deal again. C2 was too expensive and 55" Oleds for £900 (my budget) wasn't happening anytime soon.

Hold off if you can, you'll get at least 10% in about a month, if not more when they clear for the c2's.....

Already 1099 at the shop I bought my 48
