4k TVs

Yep, but you watch any reviewer who does a video or article about how they've done with an OLED a few years on and they all mention some kind of degradation. 5 years is a long period if you're watching the sports channels with Sky or BT sport's logos.
The LG now has OLED burn tools to help with logos, it moves the picture ever so slightly (no way visible to the user) so the logos never stay in the same position. Still a risk but I had a Sony LED that had a backlight that went in 5/6 years, so all tech can suffer.

Hold off if you can, you'll get at least 10% in about a month, if not more when they clear for the c2's.....

Already 1099 at the shop I bought my 48

I was literally going to buy it when I got home as I've left my wallet at home. Save me a right wedge there mate. Top Blue!

Like I say, if you are patient, it'll tumble further in 4-6 weeks. PriceSpy (alerts you to good discounts)+ Topcashback + any other discount vouchers you can get (I scan my work portal for employee offers sometimes) and even googling discount codes for shops works.

You could also try and see if Richer price match if you want the extra year warranty
Got my lg c1 65” last friday seriously impressed :), im no expert but it looks stunning

Beware if you use apps on the LG's that the TV's are restricted to 100 Mbps via wifi - even with a physical ethernet cable.. (Do a test on Netflix via the Get Help and watch as it records 94.4 mbps for example)

I found out via AV forum if you do ethernet via USB you can get upto 1000mbps. Now getting 270mbps (I'm on V300mbps so that's right). I used this:

This isn't a specific problem to LG.. I understand Nintendo Switch does the same. But you'd buy a second one to get better speeds via it's USB connector hidden in the casing.

Yep, but they've had that since the original OLED's. I had it on my 2016 model as well, unfortunately it is a problem with this specific tech. That's why i will always suggest getting the burn-in insurance from JL.

I wouldn't want to metamorpasise into some OLED dissing dude as the PQ they possess is nothing short of the breathtakingly beautiful .. so I won't but you are correct in stating the older sets all had these "protective healing properties" to prevent burn-out from pesky logo's that were not a still image but rather an integral part of the bigger picture.

Why would LG continue to spend inordinate amounts of the fiscal on continued development to eradicate a problem that they say didn't even exist. Each OLED pixel has four subpixels and back in 2017 LG increased the red subpixel size whilst also utilizing a new development called Logo Luminescence that reduced the brightness of it's logos/banners by 20%. Was this really necessary if the sets safety features were all doing there job so well?

The clear panel noise was there to refresh the pixels or what LG referred to as a compensation cycle and after 4 hours viewing was auto activated when the screen was placed in standby mode. Also the screen shift mechanism mentioned a few posts back by manchester1894 was indeed present in 2016.

Our set is with family members and still going strong but is now used with kid gloves and any prolonged use with Logos and banner ist verbotten. Also the OLED light settings have been reduced down to around 40 which doesnt really effect it's overall PQ but nevertheless ensures it keeps burn-out down to minimums. It's still doing well but the Netflix Banners are becoming visable regardless of it's cosseted treatment.

No problems nowadays with our new FALD that we use for TV, films, youtube, football, Neflix and gaming. A six year Richer warranty and a ten year screen burn warranty from Samsung. Hoozah Hoozah

Just noticed this thread. I too went for the LG C1 OLED (55 inch) a few months back to complement Sky Ultra and the PS5. The picture is so good when watching movies, sport and playing games I’d find it hard to comprehend having anything else now. I did wonder if I’d be better with a QLED initially but due to everyone raving about how good the LG OLED is, I went with it in the end.

However, the burn in is something I do consciously think about, despite having a three year warranty. The fact that they have all these anti-burn in tools tells me that it could be problematic in the long-run so I switch off the tv when I need to leave the room or pause something. I don’t think about it too much when watching sport or playing video games, but I do have a case of OCD if I’m sat in the room with the news channels running.

If I was someone who leaves Sky News/BBC News/CNN running the whole day in a family/living room like most households, I don’t think it would be very practical. Just my two pennies’ worth.

A beautiful piece of apparatus mate and I hope you derive much pleasure from it. As you say vary the content and avoid repeated use of programs with Logos/banners in the same place as the effect is cumulative. It was the GMTV yellow logo that initially bit us as we tuned in for 2 hours a day over 2 years.

As mentioned have a look at your OLED light settings and try to reduce them.
