I am one of those who had written Stones off because of his "off-field issues" but I am delighted he is proving me wrong. What an asset he would be if he can get back to his 2017/18 level.
He is easily our best defender at playing the ball out of defence and we have really missed him in the last 18 months. He is key to the midfield getting the ball quickly and that has been a major problem for us. I also think Stones moving out quickly has freed up Gundogan to play further forward where he is a lot more effective.
If you watch Stones he plays a lot of straight passes at pace, expecially to KDB. You don't often see him playing sideways. Sometimes a small change makes a huge difference. I think Stones has a big positive effect on our tempo.
Top post mate.

Im really happy that he seems to be back on track but now handing out a new contract after some good games against lesser oppositions is a bit silly. why not wait until the end of the season if he is happy here anyway.
who says he wont get injured again? is he mentally stable now?
we are not a charity. would love to see him fulfil his potential here but this sounds like we are getting ahead of ourselfs.

let him prove himself and then reap its rewards.

Have we finally sorted out our CBs after ages? I think the 4 here are perfect. If Stones can be relied upon long term, we might just have 5 years of buying no Center backs.
Absolutely spot on , with THB and Mbete coming through the future looks good , with Cancelo looking the part the LB position needs addressing and we'll be looking more solid than we have done for many a season

Given the way people talk about Pep and defenders, he's only really bought and sold Danilo, and we made a profit on him (and I assume he didn't want to stay as a backup anyway).

We were in the minority mate. Look at the replies to this:

Didsbury Dave and Fantasy Ireland, I am definitely with you two. I never lost faith in John Boy. A true Blue, that Barnsley lad. Keep up the good work John Boy and thanks for keeping the faith DD & FI. :-) We can always form the John Stones Appreciation Society.

Stay safe, take care everyone.

EDIT: I've just read that Mikel Arteta is interested in signing John Boy... go away Mikel, take a running jump. Much as I like you you can keep your hands off our lad. :-( :-)
