You can just tell he is a very intelligent football player. He knows where the space is, how to build up play, when to move forward. Footballer 1st, athlete 2nd. Love the guy
He is an athlete though. Put on a lot of weight a couple of years ago which stopped him getting pushed around like he did at times as a very young player and he’s our fastest CB by a distance. Someone else pointed out he’s made himself very good in the air as well.
I would say Stones is the player who has improved the most from the player we originally bought. When he arrived from Everton he was skinny, poor in the air and had a lot of errors in his game. He's put in the hard work in the gym and the training pitch to become what he is today.
It's why it irks me that Laporte seems to be favoured this season when Stones has demonstrated last season and this season when he has played what an asset he is to us. Yet he has to settle for cup games and fill in at RB occasionally.

I agree. I prefer either Stones Dias or Stones Laporte over Dias Laporte partnership. He’ll play all the big games, both Laporte and Dias look better alongside him rather than together, no matter how much we give that a go. They’re better than they were though so it’s been worth it.
