There are people who say he can't get rated as a centre back because he's not playing centre back, but John is also incredibly solid when asked to sit back in the back line.

Even at the World Cup, he was quietly good, but somehow all the praise went to Maguire, who wasn't even actually that good.

Criminally underrated. No idea why that's the case, maybe because he had 2 awful seasons ages ago. Genuinely can't remember the last time he made a major error. One of our best players for awhile now.
 
Another masterclass performance from John, hardly ever lets us down and hopefully he can stay fit for a while which is always the issue with Stones.

People still still have no idea.

They talk about his quality on the ball like he's not also a fucking solid defender. He absolutely bullies everyone in the air and for some reason it goes unnoticed and it's almost implied that he's got no physical abilities.

Honest to fucking god, listening to fans of other clubs talking about our players like they have a clue is infuriating.

Most fans of other teams, especially our closest rivals, probably don't watch our games because they either think we're boring or because they're constantly told by the media that a City win is a foregone conclusion.

He's truly unique but I just think we miss a 'natural' midfielder at times closer to the opposition goal.
