So happy to see him back. He was everywhere on the pitch. Such an enjoyable player to watch.

The most complete defender in world football really isn't he. Comically still seems to be under-rated.

There are people who say he can't get rated as a centre back because he's not playing centre back, but John is also incredibly solid when asked to sit back in the back line.

Even at the World Cup, he was quietly good, but somehow all the praise went to Maguire, who wasn't even actually that good.

Criminally underrated. No idea why that's the case, maybe because he had 2 awful seasons ages ago. Genuinely can't remember the last time he made a major error. One of our best players for awhile now.

Another masterclass performance from John, hardly ever lets us down and hopefully he can stay fit for a while which is always the issue with Stones.

I think it's because he's not typically seen as someone who would be able to carry an average defence on his back in the same way as Van Dijk did at Liverpool for a few years but rather needs to have world class players around him in order to to flourish. I agree that he is vastly underrated by non-City fans though.

Most fans of other teams, especially our closest rivals, probably don't watch our games because they either think we're boring or because they're constantly told by the media that a City win is a foregone conclusion.

Immense again today. What a pairing, him and Rodri. What a fucking pairing.

One of the best defenders/holding midfielders in the world. Can't think of another defender I would swap him for.

He's truly unique but I just think we miss a 'natural' midfielder at times closer to the opposition goal.
