Dias has been far and away our worst defender this season, so no idea why anyone would think he was a better option than Stones at the back. Except Pep of course, lol.
"Worst" has a negative connotation that does not apply to our situation. Akanji has been brilliant. Gvardiol approaching brilliant and Ake very, very good. Dias has not been as consistent as those 3, therefore, he hasn't been as good. But let's be clear if there is any 'worst" it's been Walker, simple as. As much as I love Johnny, many say the best ability is availability and JB has fallen way off that mark this season even by his standards. After watching Dias over the past 4 seasons and of more importance 2 days ago he's 100% playing in the back 4 for this match, just saying...

Dias has had an up and down season but he's played alright down the stretch here.

I luv Stones and, if fit, he'd be in my first team, but he's been injured a lot this season. He barely seems to feature as a sub lately so with his lack of match fitness, i just can't see how John will start tomorrow.

Stones is a great player but misses to many matches. He got injured playing for England when he played twice in 4 or 5 days when never des that for us. That is why we need a the defender for next season. Extra matches in champion league and cups. Tosin on a free would be ideal and it fills an English quota.

His injuries are a concern but when on form he's still one of the best CH's in the World.
I wouldn't be getting rid anytime soon.

Tosin will want to play regularly and we can't offer him that, plus we have defenders out on loan who deserve a chance at a squad place first.

Wouldn’t get rid of Stones, who are defenders on loan I thought we had sold harwood B, I’m aware of a very young one at Peterborough who they rave abt, but no one else. Your probably right abt Tosin.

Yeah Katongo.

I'd like to think him, T H-B, C. Doyle, Mbete at least, would all get a chance in pre-season

I imagine Pep likes rhythm in the run ins, playing Stones and being a higher chance of disruption in the match when he gets injured isn’t ideal. The bald fraud has also evolved again tactical wise and like mentioned above Stones doesn’t automatically fit into this iteration.

He’ll probably start tomorrow now….

Hoping that John will retire from England after the Euros. He mentioned in an interview that he no longer likes being away from his family, which might be a hint at what’s to come. If so, it would likely benefit and prolong his career with us until he fully retires.

Harwood Bellis is on loan with an obligation to buy for £20m if Southampton get promoted
