Why does everyone bang on about “two meaningless friendlies”??

They are not meaningless for the ENG squad are they, they have practically zero time together as a team. Kyle Walker, sex pest in chief, spoke very well about this on the radio.

Because when you have missed a vast majority of the season for your club side who at the end of the day pay your wages, you need to get your priorities right!

As said earlier a fit John Stones is England's best defender by a long way, he does not need to prove that to anyone, particularly Southgate.

Today we have City fans on social media slating the ENG team for being disjointed, not playing cohesively, lacking awareness on pitch of other players (all true).

How are they supposed to get that with zero time as a squad, how is a Manager supposed to build that? It is perfectly reasonable to expect one of Englands best players to be there when that needs to happen.

I don't think he has been too bad but he is obviously been told to play deep and not move into midfield.

Equally this is the most football he has played in a long time, once we get beat by Switzerland, he gets a rest, then a full pre season and playing under Pep we will get the Stones we all know and love back.

Think he has been alright. Only so much he can do when he's asked to stick there and move the ball left or right.

IMO, defense hasn't really looked a huge problem for England so far. The headaches are higher up the pitch.
