5 | John Stones - 2024/25

John Stones is a magnificent footballer but there’s no denying that he’s made of glass. With Ake also being constantly injured it seems we start nearly every game with two of our back four missing. When you add in injuries to Dias and Akanji this season and all the other injuries it’s no wonder we’ve been struggling.

Regrettably we can’t rely on Stones’ fitness and we need to look at other options.

John Stones has given more than 100 percent on the pitch and I’m betting that he has appeared when he wasn’t fully fit thus making himself worse eventually but I’ve not heard him complain anywhere. He just got on with his job as best he could.
Give the guy some slack/credit. Let the club decide what to do not the fans. He has earned that concession from us surely?

I don’t think I’m letting my admiration for John Stones overshadow anything else but you can shout me down if you wish. :-) :-)

Not sure it's kicking a guy when he's down EB. But we have to face facts; the guy is very fragile now. And, fantastic player that he is, he's no use to us sat in the stand. He's one of a few players that the club face difficult choices over come the end of the season.
 
It has to be the end of the line for Stones this summer. Huge fan of his but the best ability is availability and the guy never plays football.
