If we were to win Napoli, what would you think to putting out the second side against Bayern so as to rest key individuals for Chelsea and arsenal?

only makes complete and total sense.

unless we want to win the group, which Mancini will.

We have a strong squad, lets use it, trust Mancini rotation

As for being pleased about going out of Champions League - no way

We must avoid the Europa league and battle on all fronts.

Anyone seen Arsenal fixtures at the time of Carling Cup?
A 0-0 would be good results, and take them back to our place

If we win the big games against the big clubs, it KEEPS us top of the league at Christmas and puts even more space between us and the rest. ALL ELSE is secondary!

it would be WONDERFUL to get to the knockout stages of the CL, but tying at home against Napoli and getting spanked by BM when we were on the front foot has proven costly. Now, we have to learn from that or take our lumps and move on.

Winning the league is the be all and end all for City this season. End of.

So let me get this straight, you think a draw and a defeat in four games in the top club competition in the world have been costly, and that we should win all our games against the big clubs in the premier league, and if we don't win the premier league we haven't achieved the "be all and end all"? I think a reality check is just around the corner for some fans .....

Very harsh......i read the original comment in a different way - dropping points at home to Napoli and away to Bayern has made qualification more difficult and should we not proceed we have to learn that home games are paramount to progressing in the group stage and that away from home you have to be clinical at this level or you most likely be out..........

Ok i agree the be al and end all comment is a bit OTT - but i get his drift............i would sacrifice being successful in all other competitions to win the title...........Unfortunately football is rarely that simple !

Tighten the belts and enjoy the ride...........For sure there will be ups and downs between now and Christmas - but i for one would be shocked if we are not in a position to still be in with an opportunity to win 2 of the 3 competitions we are currently in.

No replays in the Carling cup so extra time and pens on the night should it come to that, cant wait to get back about 4 in the morning and be up at half 5 for work the next day!!!

Don't all the carling cup games get decided on the night i.e. extra time / penalties?

good spot, well lets do them 1v0 on the night then.

there will be rotation, we have to accept that the atmosphere on here when we went out of the cup last year was dismal at best

Only this.

If we win in Napoli can still win the group if we beat bayern at home 3-0.
