That’s what surprised me - for a Dutch international who came through Chelsea’s academy and played a large chunk of his formative years in midfield, he’s woeful on the ball.

Not for me. What I meant was that unless we get unlucky with injuries Stones & Dias will be playing as many games as possible. Hopefully Laporte will stay also. If so, the amount of games that Ake plays in the PL will be limited.

There's a gulf in class between those 3 and Ake.

The only thing he seems to lack, for me, is confidence. He still plays a bit like he has stage fright and I wonder how much his injuries have prolonged that.

He's a quality player. Maybe not on the level of Stones and Dias last season or Laporte before his injury but he's a bloody good player. Hopefully we get to see that whenever he plays for us.

He is worse than Garcia. Both shit, but Garcia actually thinks he is top-level. Ake looks scared shitless, and doesn’t believe he belongs here…he’s right.

Really don't like to single one player out after a poor team loss but this lad is absolutely nowhere near the quality we need. I cannot underestimate how shit he was. Nearly every single pass, header he made under any sort of pressure was given directly to the opposition. He doesn't tackle and when he does it often leads to fouls and penalties. When you need someone to step up with others not ready he failed massively. Made every other player looked worse - that takes some doing. We will recover but for a 40m defender he looks championship level at best.
