Listen to him on the official City podcast, he doesn't want to be a 6.

He did play as a LB growing up so that position isn't new to him. But his natural position is a box to box midfielder.

Give the lad a chance to cover Rodris role, gundo hasn't the legs for every game and kovocic is quite imobile too.
I think this is what Pep wants to happen, but Pep implied after the game that Nico has some doubts about being able to play the critical number 6 position.

I actually think it would work if he had Kova or Bernie lending him a hand. Obviously he has the Yaya-like physical attributes to be a fantastic CDM.

A thoroughbred. Like watching how Lakey would have played (at left back!) in a Pep team.

Was impressed with Nico since his earlier US preseason tour in the year.

Putting aside Macca’s hatrick goals, I actually thought Nico outshone him yesterday evening considering Nico was played out of position.

Positive & accurate passes & went past people with ease.

Dare I say he had an element of Cole Palmer play in him with some maverick tendencies. That will be him shipped off in the summer then ;-)

Top banana. Out of position (he’s actually an attacking midfielder despite playing in defensive mid in pre-season) at left back and looked quite natural.

His running style with the ball is very good.

Pep’s new left back for a year? Haha
at least he played left back and not inverted CB leaving winger time to control and cross ball

im sure pep will soon train it out of him ;)

I really like Nico. His versatility is gonna help us a lot. Top player. Think he need to keep ahold of him. Typical Pep good footballer- played as a striker, 10, 6, 8, full-back. Just a solid all rounder. I would be playing him in midfield to give us those legs and help out Gundo/Kova.

I read the other day United, Liverpool and Everton all wanted him as a kid. Think he is a serious talent.

I totally agree, really looking forward to seeing more of Nico.

His technique for his goal was quality.

Very impressive indeed. He has the all round technical ability power, and speed to be playing more now without over exposing him. Hope he gets more chances.

Physically has all the attributes you want tall, strong, quick. Technically looks excellent. All he needs is to keep his head on football (and family of course) and study, learn, experiment continuously.

I’d like to see him given a chance ahead of Rico.

I’m sure it won’t happen as Pep presumably either doesn’t recognise the same weaknesses in Rico that I seem to see, and if he does, he doesn’t think from what he’s seen in training and games like Salford, that Nico is necessarily a better option. But I’d like to see us try it.
