One of my favourites, but if i saw him receive the ball, twirl around 360 degrees then pass it to the guy who just gave it him one more time last night i think i'd have had to send a stern letter.

As much as I was disappointed with his performance last night, that’s a captain’s call out to the team. I like it!

We need something big to happen to kick start our season. Something has been off, and it has to be that stupid fucking World Cup. Form was up and down with the team and individuals before the World Cup. I only think Ederson Stones Rodri and Haaland could say a they were consistently at a level of our usual standards most weeks.

Foden and Cancelo started the season well but faded, Mahrez started the season poorly and grew into it, de Bruyne and Walker were as terrible as they were excellent from one week to the next, Gundogan Bernardo and Ake were good but had the odd poor performances, Akanji started really well but fell off a cliff from Copenhagen away onwards, Grealish was bland on the whole, Alvarez is a kid and has been up and down…

And as a team, in the Prem and CL, we were great against Bournemouth, Forest, second half against Palace, first half against United, Southampton… okay at West Ham, Leeds, second half at Chelsea… quite poor in wins against Wolves, first half against Palace, second half against United, Leicester, Brighton, Dortmund, Fulham, first half at Chelsea… and then really poor in games we didn’t win against Dortmund, Copenhagen, Newcastle, Liverpool, Brentford, Everton, and the Quarter final against Southampton (early round Cup games are neither here nor there really so they don’t really need commenting on).

We’ve not played well twice in a row yet.

Been a frustrating watch this season so far. We don’t look like a Champion team, but I’ve seen teams look like that and go on to win the Champions League because you only have to get up for that every few weeks and don’t even have to win (a win and a draw, a win and a defeat, two draws and penalties and you can proceed to the next round being very inconsistent).

So you never know with that one.

But we need something to kick us up the arse and hopefully last night was it and this call-out by the captain is the reminder!

It's probably been mentioned privately before now and not had an affect. I think it's a good thing to get it out. No hiding place now or clichéd excuses from the coaching and playing staff.
Exactly what I was thinking. Enough is enough now, it’s not been good enough and we need it calling out in public. Last time we played really well in the Prem was 8th October against the bottom of the league side, I’m sure there have been numerous discussions in private since then but for it to still be going on, it’s right to bring it up like he has.

He is definitely right, this seaosn has been off.

Even some of the games we have won I have not really been impressed and adopted the "3 points is all that matters approach", which only takes you so far because ultimately you need to be routinely playing well in the long run.

That being said, his performances haven't been that great. Like Kevin, neither have the defensive workrate of Bernie who is the best pairing with Rodri.

I have always liked him more when Pep gave him more license to attack, but if playing with Kevin, that's not happening, Both of them are best when paired with Bernie, not with each other.

While most of us are sensing such.....Its fucking awful that our Captain is making it public.

There’s more than one way of looking at it.

IMO it’s not as if it isn’t obvious and it would’ve been “fucking awful” if he’d said otherwise.

I think it was exactly the line a captain should have taken and I applaud it.

None of those weasel words, that we so often hear from those who play for the rags & dippers, as they attempt to deflect blame.
I like his honesty. He’s critical of the team as a whole, himself included, and I see it more as a call to arms from him, a wake up call, an open acceptance of poor performance and a statement of forward intent.

I disagree because I feel its caused unnecessary worry amongst some of our fan base.He could have chosen his words far better.
