800 fans to Napoli?

For those that asked about pyrotechnics
Just spoken to my cousin in Napoli that want to buy smoke and flares....these are usually puchased from hawkers on the road ...she reckons Spaccanapoli towards Via San Gregorio Armeno is a good place....you won't get them any where near the stadium

Pete,
are there off licences or supermarkets in Napoli selling cold beer? or can you only by this from certain places? Just thinking ahead if theres a alchohol ban in the bars on day of game (will also need a few can's for the train journey to rome on the wednesday!!)
Cheers

Lads you are well aware of Napoli now. Forewarned is forearmed. Liverpool and Bayern fans got caught in the wrong place. You know the ropes so you'll be OK. On the plane train etc...chat with fellow fans to make sure they are all aware of the areas to avoid...education and common sense is all it takes...be street savvy.
Darkness and isolation is your enemy. Even Garibaldi will be safe in daylight. FFS dont stay down the port all day you'll go off your heads...at least wander Via Toledo and Piazza Plebiscito...otherwise whats the point.

I'm flying in tomorrow morning to take in the Lazio game at night time. I'm meeting an Ultra from the Spanish Quarters who is taking an English lad to Curva A. I'd advised the Lad to go in the distinti for his 1st game but he chose Curva A. He'll be in good hands.

Those that heed all the advice that has been given to you should be alright. If you roll out of a bar at 2am pissed and legless on your own...yes a good chance u will get robbbed.

If you were from Turin, Milan, or Rome then yes the WHOLE city would be looking for you. But you are not Northern Italians so it will be a distinct minority of fans that are brain dead that you will have to avoid. Follow all the guidelines and everything will be ok. I'll say this again....The stewards are great, the police are great....they are not like roman police who do the work of their ultras. In Napoli the police crack the heads of Napoli ultras and not visitors.

For those that are going you are in for a real unforgettable treat...especially if the game is poised either way for 90 minutes. Noise and colour...and real fans..like you boys who have supported shit for years on end...not like the plastics of United, Inter, Milan and Juve....

These Napoli boys love their club and it is a vehicle to express their different identity to the rest of Italy...It's a poor club and the Ultras pay for all the shows that you see...nothing is provided by the club like what you see at the grounds in Northern italy...This is the true Ultra code of which they are proud

Look at this vid of the the group EAM 1979 part of the Fedayn from Curva B. This is a celebration including exchanginging flags with fans from Genoa with whom they have a Gemellagio (twinning)

Estranei Alla Massa = Not of the masses
Look at the maestros near the end of the film stood on the parapet wall....Health and Safety..they never heard of it!!!

Quite a bit of kissing going on there mate, cannot see that catching on
at City.

Hi Bainy...Yes you can buy beer in Supermercato can't remember if they have a cold section though....their supermarkets are often no bigger than a Tesco express!!!!

Where are you now Phil? Did you arrive at Napoli yet or spending the night in Roma?

Im heading out of Rome in the morning. Should make Napoli for Sunday afternoon. 177kms along the coast.

Ive been staying with these ratty nuns!!! Headache but funny!!!

What is the feeling amongst the Napoli fans with regard the result. Do you think you have the beating of us?
I noticed that Napoli are mid table in Serie A. What has been Napolis problem?
What is the weakness of your team?

Cheers

Napoli fans always believe they will win every game they play!!!! It's in their nature and surprisingly they do some great results. In terms of quality City are street ahead...but sometimes San Paolo can be inspirational to the Napoli players. The old addage of quieten the crowd is very important for visiting teams because they enjoy making a noise.
Mazzari has Napoli playing above themselves...and yet this season they spanked Inter and also Milan but flopped against some minnows. The reason is simple....if the team are all fit they are a useful outfit...but when the backup players are used it is clear they are substantially weaker.
The demanding Champions League and the fact that many of the players featured in the Coppa America shows that there is fatigue in the camp.
They wont have the luxury of resting players like City...I expect that barring injuries the team that plays Lazio tomorrow will be the same as plays City. Possibly only 2 changes....Gargano for Djemali and Zuniga for Dossena.
Napoli have some great youngsters in the background but they simply cant compete on more than 1 front like the big European giants.
Still the fans are over the moon to be back at the top table after 20 years.
Personally I would like the team to concentrate on Serie A as continual qualification for CL is the only way to get experience.....yet the club has stated that CL is the priority....all wrong in my books....this CL is a learning curve. I expect City will win it within 3-5 years...if you do it this season it will be a miracle...because it is a competition that you must compete in many times to get success.
I'm really glad for you boys because to support the blues for so long and so well whilst your neighbours have been cleaning up ,speaks volumes of the type of fans you are. I think the whole of the REAL footballer supporters in England rejoiced at the 6-1. Fergie is universally despised apart from United supporters.
If you dominate football for the next 15 years then you'll probably end up like those red twats...but lets hope that you maintain your integrity.
Anyway I wont see it as a disgrace if either team wins....I hope it is a close game ...and if you win, I hope you don't spank them like you did United....they are people of extreme pride.
