80's Music

Fucking hell. A decade that gave us Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Talk Talk, Blancmange, Tears for Fears etc etc cannot be called "absolute pap".

It got pap later on with the Americanisation of the charts, crappy ballards and SAW but from 80-85...what a time.

Especially if you liked the synth stuff.

I'm a proud owner of a " Sequential Circuits Pro-One" so I think I pretty much qualify ;)

The specials,
Smiths,
echo and bunnymen,
talking heads at their prime,
pixies,
pulp,
james,
orange juice,
dinosaur jr,
REM,
B52's,
style council,
the cure,
housemartins,
sugar cubes,
new order,
happy mondays,
the fall,
808 state,
run DMC,
Public enemy,
roses and many more,

Decent decade music wise though OP choices are not my styles

I went from 7 to 17 in this decade so my tastes would have changed massively. First band for me was the police. Then disillusionment with the SAW onslaught on the charts. 85/86 New order came onto my horizon never again went away. DAnce and house reared it’s ugly head then late 80s thankfully your city provided a genre i still listen to today. Timeless stuff
