Excellent performance

Wondering if Pep actually might see him as some sort of midfielder in the future? He kept the ball moving and the game ticking over so well last night in the tight spaces in the middle of the park.

Great tenacity as well
Early days yet but Rico looked so comfortable drifting into midfield hunting the ball.

Who else should we be looking out for from the academy next season?
Very tough one. Who or what I see in the lads I watch won’t necessarily be what Pep would want.

Nonetheless, the young players (from the EDS) I believe are talented enough but may not make it here (depends on luck and other variables) are Borges (LW), Breckin (CM/AM), and Bobb (now plays CM/AM; RW in the past).

On loan, Taylor Harwood-Bellis (CB) is having a great season at Burnley but I doubt he’s going to return to City to fight for a place (my assumption), McAtee (CM/AM) who had a rough start but has started to settle and Doyle (CM) who looks very comfortable and mature when he’s playing.

He's like Phillip Lahm. Incredibly intelligent always knows what to do where to pass where to go and be.

He plays this specific role better then Cancelo and Walker. Walker can't really do the midfield role and Cancelo is just a risk he's to rash
I would like to see the Ake - Lewis combination for a few more games. I think it's a genuine alternative option to the Walker-Cancelo one.

He is playing in that free space role that walker and stones recently occupied, the difference is that Rico plays like he's in a 5 a side game and plays little one twos to beat an opponent whereas the other 2 will pass sideways and backwards, he is quick enough to get out of trouble, we have a superb player on our hands.

Very interested to see if he keeps his place tomorrow. Regardless he's a definite first choice option from now on. Perfect Pep style full back
