82 | Rico Lewis - 2024/25

Whatever the merits he is a kid who is a good footballer but would not be playing so much save for the injury list and poor form of the team. We need physical strength in the team but that is not his gig. That is up to Pep to solve, not Rico.

I see it's like Jude Bellingham again, he is forever 17. It's a shame he is nowhere near Bellingham. 20 years old and worse than he was at 17.

Classic example of a good player who had smoke blown up his arse since he was 14. Never had too much adversity to overcome football wise and feels comfortable about getting a game regardless. Hes worked hard for years to get where he is so hopefully the penny drops and he finds a role for himself and comes good. He cant rely on Peps blind spot forever

How has he had smoke blown up his arse? He seems a really grounded kid and puts a shift in every single game.

Think he's good. Doesn't have to be as good as everyone else to hold down a place in the squad. Think he's at risk of going Iheanacho's way, though, in the sense that Iheanacho never really nailed down a position and wasn't as strong as he could be. By the time Pep came in he was a decent poacher but was marked out of virtually every game he played, and didn't know how to find space to allow himself the freedom to play. Lewis is a bit the same in that he's a good technical kid but isn't really disciplined or strong enough to play in defensive positions. Needs to be used as a Gundogan type in the future imo, but he's being asked to play further back for obvious reasons. Hope he gets a full season in midfield at some point.
