Team full of FOCs and cloggers but let’s blame it all on the kid.

Some of the twats in this thread and in the matchday thread want fucking chinning.

Yes but every game he adds nothing, falls over multiple times and is woefully out of position.

People can’t understand why he gets game time, it’s not exactly an unfair notion.

He has about 80 appearances for us, yet he still doesn't mark his players. Nowhere near Dembele or Barcola for their goals.

Harsh. As others are being also.

Dembele's goal - Gvardiol was marking him but left him to try and get to Barcola. Lewis didn't get over in time, but I'm not sure any fullback would have done. That goal was a collective failure, more to do with the space Barcola got down the right and Akanji being out of position. This pic shows how they pulled Lewis and Gvardiol left, creating that space. I don't think Lewis could have done more as there were 3 out there to start with.

Barcola's goal - his position was fine but the ball landed good for Barcola, who reacted well, but let's be honest, luckily.

People saying he gets knocked over - he does, but they're usually free kicks. He's not perfect, but there are bigger problems with the team currently than him.

I don't think he's as bad as People think.
But when you compare him with the young players we've let go; Lavia, Delap, Palmer, Perrone, Morgan and even Doyle he's neither technically superior or physically imposing than them, the aforementioned players were just unlucky they came through at a time when we had an elite squad. Imo he's not a creator or a destroyer, he's decent in the pockets but then doesn't affect the game enough, physically he's weak and short, should be loaned out next summer, that's the treatment the other young academy players were given, don't see any reason why Rico should be exempt.

He turned 20 a month ago.

Yep, there's no point in having an academy if you are too scared to play them in the first team. They have to get games, and they have to learn and develop.

I recall Kyle Walker being fairly average and erratic before he played for Pep. And Kevin De Bruyne like a rabbit in the headlights for Chelsea.

Everybody needs time.

Maybe Pep Guardiola knows a bit more about his abilities than some sad entitled knobheads on the internet.

Just a thought.
And maybe people are commenting on what they see in front of them every time he plays. He’s played 80 games for us and I haven’t a clue what is supposedly his best position

It is different. Walker and De Bruyne showed lots of physical presence when they were at early stage. They have better pace and strength than their peers even at early age.

Rico shows none.

I am not saying if a player is slow and small and technical average he cannot grow into a great player but 99.9% chance it won't happen.

I was going to say he’s doing Rico few favours comparing him to those 2. Their strengths were obvious whereas with Rico it’s quite difficult to say what they’re.

As you say without a great deal of physical strength, no pace and small you need to be very special to stay at the top level.

The lad has been hung out to dry by senior players and Pep tbf.

He is in the 1st team development phase and been shunted into any amd every position then you have senior players playing wank around him.

Fans giving him proper nasty shit need to cut him some slack and act their age too.

This guy has problems playing the ball forward. Grealish of wingbacks. At least he can turn well. That’s the main attribute for Pep when looking for players. That’s also why we suck physically. Bunch of players gone who were obviously far better than him. He probably has some contacts in the upper management.

Of course Pep knows more. He's forgotten more than us lot know combined.

Still doesn't mean he can't have faults or be wrong sometimes. The fella put RODRI AND FERNANDINHO on the bench for a champions league final, leaving us light in midfield and we lost.
