I know what you mean, but the Cubs or White Sox line up make me shudder ;-)
His game time is down to the boss did he play well ? Yes IMHO.
Couldn’t tell you a single player on the Cubs or Sox roster, but his lack of playing time during such an injury-filled season might be a clue?!

He’s not got “it” for this team. That’s not to say he doesn’t have skills or can’t pop up with a goal. He had a chance to make a name for himself and flubbed his lines 3 out of 4 times. He did take his goal well, though, even if he fluffed the other three chances.

Think his movement and general play were good against Palace, but he really, really needs to work on that sharp instinct in front of goal. Took his actual goal very well (admittedly helped by a kamikaze keeper) but he should have had a hat-trick beforehand with the gimme chances that were made for him. When he put that one over from six yards in the second half I just had flashbacks to the Brentford game when he really should have just buried it and killed it but flashed it wide instead.

Think he deserves another outing. Intelligent runs and got in some great spaces. I think with more game time he'll relax more in his finishing and take more chances
Yeah think getting that goal and how he took it helped. Showed he can get in the right places and think that’s the sort of thing pep likes.

I wonder if any of the high ups might be having a word with him about his celebratory back flip. I'm imagining the medical staff going blue in the face from holding their breath when he scores!
They should also have a word with hefty Norwegians sliding to the corner on knees that have been creaking.

On that point, I wouldn't mind a return to the days when players refrained from running off to celebrate alone and instead gathered as a group. Always thought that gave the opponent a sense of how unified we were as a team and that everyone realised they were just one part of it.

They've talked to him before about that multiple times!

But that backflip might have just put him on everyone's radar.. like hmm maybe they can get James McAtee from City.

So far the comparison with Thomas Muller is the best one I've seen.

I know we have a relatively small sample size still but I just, don't really get McAtee.

He doesn't seem to contribute much despite his technical ability, then just pops up in exactly the right spot and then may or may not score.

Pep always has had time for players like that. Muller, Pedro, Sterling. Guys whose best quality is an incredible knack of being in the right place at the right time

What McAtee needs is to develop enough of an all around game that he's still useful when not scoring, just like the three I mentioned were

If he keeps playing like he did on the weekend, he'd be an asset

Rodrygo from Real.. exact same profile except he hurts us!

Gaughan confirming Leverkusen and Forest have enquired about him.

Coincidence or lazy journalism?

RE Wirtz and Gibbs-White

If we got rid mcatee to then spunk silly money on an overhyped gibbs-white then I would question the clubs judgement.

McAtee playing regular football is on a par if not better than MG-W

be akin to when we sold Michael Hughes and replaced him with ricky holden

Morgan Gibbs White is twice the player, lets not take the piss here.

an absolutely awful set of transfers, it's shit like that, that makes you question the involvement of brown envelopes.

On the basis of this season, I'm inclined to agree with you. MGW has a greater presence on the pitch than James McAtee, and is a genuine force in the Forest team.

That said, it's entirely possible that James would have been the same for City, had he been given the opportunity earlier in the season.

Personally, if we were offered top money for James (say £25-£30m), I'd take it and put it towards signing MGW.
